Description

Welcome to our Catskills Cabin Oasis, where you'll enjoy an old-fashioned Catskills stay in comfort and privacy in the heart of Balsam Lake Mountain, surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty, right near the quaint village of Margaretville. SECONDS from hiking trails, and MINUTES from skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and Village shops and eateries, our cozy cabin is equipped with a dynamic kitchen, wood stove, wrap around deck, screened-in porch, grill, fire pit, heat/AC, Smart TV, & more! The space We recently remodeled both the interior and exterior space to breathe new life into this storied cabin. Our peaceful refuge sits right within the nature oasis that is Balsam Lake Mountain, at the base of hiking trails that will take you to the mountain peak for breathtakingly scenic views of the dazzling Catskill Mountains landscape. We are also within short driving distance to both Bealleayre Ski Mountain (15 minutes down the road), as well Plattekill Ski Mountain (less than 30 minutes). The cabin is set up for intimate privacy in nature, and is equipped to host up to 4 people. Take a deep breath of the notably fresh and calming Catskills air while on our spacious wrap around deck, which includes a screened-in porch, rocking chairs, outdoor sofas, a hammock, picnic table, propane grill, and fire pit. Or, step inside to bask in a space that embodies rest and relaxation to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit. Is that a cloud you're sleeping on? Nope, that's just the memory foam queen mattresses we stock in both sleeping areas. We have an open floor plan, with the first bed being accessible on the main floor of the cabin, and the second on the loft via the ladder (please see the “Other things to note” section below for additional information on sleeping arrangements if planning to use both sleeping areas). We also have a serene living room with a delightfully comfortable sofa and lounge chair, where you'll be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the warmth of our wood burning stove. Looking to work remotely from the cabin? No problem - seriously, we do it all the time. We have super fast 220 Mbps WiFi, and we keep an extra monitor stored that you are free to use should you want to extend your screens. We tend to work comfortably from the kitchen island (it's about 5 feet long) that separates the sleeping area from the kitchen. Did you say kitchen? Okay, we brought it up, but that's just because we love it so much. The cabin's kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven/stove, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and cutlery. The island that separates the sleeping area and kitchen makes it extremely convenient (and fun!) to prepare expansive meals during your stay. You will also have access to a large screen smart TV with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and other streaming apps, a record player with some personal vinyl favorites, a myriad of games and books, and more! We absolutely love Margaretville and want to make sure you maximize your time here - be sure to check out my local guidebook for Margaretville & Surrounding Areas! Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the property. Other things to note Regarding the sleeping arrangements - the loft is open to the living room, as we cannot close it off due to safety concerns. As a result, there is limited privacy between the sleeping area on the main floor and the loft. In addition to the privacy matter, the loft may not be suitable for children under 5/6 years old, as they will need to climb a ladder up and down to access the space. Please also note that while there are images with the ladder folded up into the ceiling, we keep it down and have adjusted it to be stationary at this time for the safety of our guests! During the winter season when snow is likely, you will absolutely need 4WD/AWD to navigate the area. We also highly recommend snow tires (and tire chains if they are accessible to you), as the road leading up to the cabin is steep in some parts (we are, after all, on the beautiful Balsam Lake Mountain!). Please also note, this is a cabin squarely in the middle of the woods, so you should be comfortable staying in a remote setting surrounded by animals, insects, and other critters. As a result, guests can occasionally expect there to be visits from our local wildlife neighbors, insects in and around the screened in porch and generally around the exterior of the cabin as a whole, and while we do our best to keep them outside, occasionally a critter may even sneak in the cabin itself. We urge guests to keep the screen door, front door, and sliding doors closed to minimize the chances of that last one! All of this is part of the charm of being in such a remote, natural setting. Just something to keep in mind during your stay! Finally, we happily accommodate dogs for an additional $100 cleaning fee. Please note that we allow a maximum of 2 dogs per stay.
