Welcome to Mapletree Farm's peaceful, private creekside cabin! Inspired by Thoreau’s one-room cabin, tucked in the woods next to a beautiful creek in a private, quiet corner of our 20 acre property with woods, open fields and streams. Restorative, meditative, and peaceful natural surroundings steps from Altamont Village and minutes from the Helderberg Escarpment, Thatcher State Park, Altamont Fair, and Albany, the capital of New York State! The space Bright, unique, quiet, cozy off- grid cabin with enclosed screened porch in a private, quiet, tranquil, picturesque spot. The authentic cabin is newly updated and contains a full size bed, pillows and linens, a loveseat sitting area that folds out into a single bed, Jotul wood stove for cooler nights, table and chairs, screened porch with outdoor table and seating area for AM coffee, w/propane grill, picnic table, hammock all overlooking the creek in a private peaceful setting. Enjoy all that this special area has to offer and then come back to your own peaceful retreat. Wonderful location for recreation, reconnecting, restoration, writing, rest and revitalization. Guest access Guests have full access to the cabin, creek, and paths through the woods. The cabin is about 250 meters down a picturesque path from where you park your car. There are wagons available to transport gear if desired. Other things to note Please note that the cabin is off-grid with an outhouse and no running water. Simple living! We provide 5 gallons of clean water for cooking, washing etc. that can be refilled as needed. Pillows, clean linens and towels are provided as well as coffee and tea, books and board games. A propane grill, fire pit and picnic table are available for cooking. Please either bring local firewood or obtain firewood from the forest floor. Please do not cut branches or trees. -Absolutely No cooking, candles, open flames or smoking in the cabin or porch. -Please keep fires small and very contained. -While the cabin is very private, please respect quiet hours from 10 pm - 7 am. Please close all windows and shut off power/lights when departing.
