Etxetxu Ankora

This building, popularly known as Etxetxu, was built in 1612 and is the oldest in the Old Port, predating even the port itself, which was elevated in 1629, seventeen years later. This unique house that presides over the entrance to the upper part of the neighborhood, was also the Town Hall of Getxo for 22 years (from 1838 to 1860), headquarters of the Fishermen's Guild and Pilot School of the sailors Lemanes. It has even been the scene of several films, the most popular being “A Little Chocolate”.
