Enjoy stunning sunrises and the sounds of Lake Michigan. 50 ft from the shore, the 2-bedroom + sleeping loft/1.5-bath home sleeps up to 6 people. Enjoy a spacious kitchen, modern finishes and views of Lake Michigan throughout the home. The 1-acre property includes a staircase to 300 ft of private, stone shoreline with a fire pit and views of Rock Island. Relax and view as far as the eye can see with 100 mi of open water between you and the state of MI. The space The property includes 2 structures: the original home plus a real log cabin that was added in 2000. The structures are attached by a common entry hallway. It feels like one house, but you can close a door and add privacy or quiet separation if needed. There are multiple steps to access the home. There is no A/C, which is typical for a Lakefront house on Lake Michigan. Fans are available in each bedroom. A combination of closing the curtains during the daytime and opening windows for a cross breeze in the evening keep the house rather cool in peak of the summer. Bedding (sheets and comforter) and one towel per person is provided. Guest should bring their own beach towels and any additional towels or blankets to meet your personal preference NO PETS ALLOWED. WIFI is available. Pots and pans, dishes and silverware are provided. All dishes MUST be washed and put away prior to departure. Guest access There is a gravel driveway that descends from the road to the house. Park in the circle driveway, parking pad to the East of the garage or additional parking pad at the top of the driveway. The garage is private and not available to guests. Steps to Entry: The entries to the house from the back Deck or front of the house has approximately 3-6 steps to navigate. Staircase to Lake Michigan Shoreline: There is approximately 12 steps. Lake Access: Water levels vary annually. Wade or swim at your own risk. Stone shoreline is slippery when wet. Ability to launch a paddle board or kayak is weather dependent. Renter will not hold the hosts liable for negligence, any loss, expense or cost, including attorney fees, arising out of any damages or injuries, whether to persons, their guests or property during the time of stay. Bring your own life jacket for safety. Renters and their guests shall assume all risk and responsibility while on the property and near/on the water. Loft Access: There is a spiral staircase to access the loft (3rd bedroom) on the cabin side. Other things to note Wood Burner & Fireplace: While the fireplaces are a lovely feature, they're currently not available for guests to use. This ensures everyone's safety and for insurance reasons. Car Ferry: The Island is accessible via the Washington Island Ferry Line. Renter should visit their website for the current schedule and plan accordingly. Renter must allow ample time to get in line and board the ferry. It is advisable to arrive early and avoid the last ferry when possible. The ferry schedule varies throughout the year. No refunds will be given if Renter is unable to check in due to missing the ferry. Outdoor Fires: Camp fires are acceptable in the fire pit on the shore. Keep fires under control and do not leave it unattended. Extinguish the fire when finished. Exercise good judgement and no fires on windy days. There are firewood stands around the Island to purchase wood. Enter at Your Own Risk: Navigate the shoreline and water at your own risk. The stone shoreline is very slippery when wet. Renter will not hold the hosts liable for negligence, any loss, expense or cost, including attorney fees, arising out of any damages or injuries, whether to persons, their guests or property during the time of stay. Bring your own life jacket for safety. Renters and their guests shall assume all risk and responsibility while on the property and near/on the water.
