Jackson Corners AIRB&B Peanut Room
One (10'x16') private room with king size bed, plus a living room (shared with 2 other rooms) with wifi, microwave, and Keurig coffee machine. You are also welcome to use of our kitchen for quick meals, pool, grill, and our washer and dryer. We also have our own winery/distillery onsite (Seedy Fruit Wine). The post-and-beam house was built about 1840. We have 3 bedrooms available with a community living room and two shared bathrooms. Room for parking. We have a gentle big dog. The space Jackson Corners is a sprawling 150 year old farmhouse and homestead, lovingly remodeled over the past 30 years. Once home to a family of thirteen tending hundreds of acres, a successful dairy farm and a small general store, the property is now trimmed down to 10 acres of lawn, woods and stream, highlighting the original homestead buildings in a rural setting. We have renovated the original dairy barn to a winery and distillery, producing and selling our own wines and spirits in micro-batches from fruits, vegetables and herbs grown onsite, or gleaned from the generosity of our friends and neighbors. Besides the tasting and retail room in the barn, our guests also often enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace nestled between the barn and vegetable garden. “Seedy Fruit Wine Company”. The main house consists of 13 rooms, with two more presently under construction. We welcome our guests to share most of the downstairs with us: a well-stocked modern kitchen (with coffee), a spacious dining room, an informal living room, a large bathroom (with laundry facilities and a walk-in shower), and a yet-unfinished but very functional large screened porch. A private stairway and hall from the dining room reaches into the guest quarters: three comfortable bedrooms (each with a king bed), a shared living room, and a shared bathroom (with claw-foot tub and shower). Rooms may be rented individually or the entire area may be reserved to serve a family. The back yard of the house is fully enclosed with a fence and mature trees, and includes a patio, LP grill and a large in-ground swimming pool. Guests who choose to cook are welcome to harvest and enjoy our garden produce in season, including: apples, cherries, pears, blueberries, currants (red and black), raspberries (red, black and yellow), kiwi, rhubarb, strawberries, elderberries, grapes, mulberries, and miscellaneous vegetables and herbs. We are also avid readers and have an extensive collection of books for browsing and borrowing, as well as many board games and puzzles. Some books and toys are also well suited for youth. Despite our rural setting, we only four miles from the center of Milton – with a population over 11,000, the eighth largest town in Vermont. That means easy access to the post office, supermarket, convenience stores, library, events and restaurants. Even more variety is available in either St. Albans (14 miles) or Burlington (18 miles), and Montreal is only 80 miles away. Guest access We have plenty of off street parking. There are several steps to access our first floor though, and the staircase from the dining room to the guest quarters is steep and narrow, so it may be difficult for somebody with mobility challenges. Other things to note Your hosts will be of Kathy and Jay (people), assisted by Em (English Mastiffs)and Taj (African Grey Parrot). Please beware if you suffer from allergies! The animals are not allowed in the guest quarters. We have both lived within 20 miles of here our entire lives – well over half a century each, dating back into last millennium. We are happy to advise what to do and how to get there, reminisce on local lore and history, or just share our rather traditional way of life.
