The Meal Barn is a renovation of an old grain store. Keeping the original features with all modern amenities you will be welcomed into the fresh and stylish open-plan living, kitchen and dining area when you enter the property with vaulted ceiling. With a neutral colour palette and soft furnishings, it has a homely and chic look. A modern, flat screen TV is mounted on the wall so you can relax on one of the spacious corner sofa watching your favourite shows during your stay. Perfect for entertaining friends or spending quality time with family, this area is certainly the hub of the house. Like the rest of the property, the kitchen and dining area has been refurbished to the highest standard. With sleek cabinets and ultra-modern appliances, it is a truly luxurious space. One end of the room features the oven, hob, microwave, kettle and toaster and the other has a breakfast style dining area. Head to any of the three bedrooms and you’ll find truly relaxing settings. The rooms have been styled with bedside tables to match the king-size beds. You’ll also notice a bunk bed in one of the bedrooms, making The Meal Barn ideal for breaks with children and teenagers. It is also worth noting that one of the beds can be split to form two singles if requested prior to your stay. All three bedrooms have ensuites featuring showers, wash basins and WC’s (two bedrooms have baths also). You can certainly expect a clean and modern finish. Please note that there is also a sofa bed in The Meal Barn which can be set up for guests if requested. This will increase the occupancy to 10. The Meal Barn is suited to 6 adults and 4 children as the bunk beds are only suitable for children. Head outside and you'll be in a private patio with a hot tub and outdoor furniture. There is also plenty of open grass beyond the patio where children can play and also enjoy the footgolf! Guest access The cottage is located 1 mile down a country road and 3 miles off the main A64 access road. There is ample free parking outside the cottage. Other things to note Wood-fired hot tubs How long does the hot tub take to heat? Around 3-4 hours depending on weather and starting temperature. Do you light it for us? No — guests are responsible for lighting and maintaining the fire. Full instructions are provided. Is it difficult? It’s similar to lighting a log burner or campfire. It does require a little patience, especially in colder weather. Is the wood provided? Yes- we provide the wood for the first couple of burns. Can I buy more logs and kindling? We have our General Store on-site where more logs and kindling can be purchased Are hot tub towels supplied? No, only bathtub towels are supplied Is there a shop nearby? The nearest shop is in Thornton Le Dale (approx. 7 miles away) however we do have an honesty (cash only) shop where you can buy essentials should you forget something or run out. Is there a washing machine? There is a shared washing machine and sink that is available for you to use during your visit in the Wash House. Can I bring extra dogs? Please contact us direct should you wish to bring more than 2 dogs per cottage. Unfortunately we are unable to allow cats to stay in the cottage. Are there highchairs we can use? Yes, we have highchairs and bed sides that you are welcome to use. These are in the Wash House or let us know before you arrive and we will put one in your cottage. What time can I check in? 3pm What time is check out? 10am It is a special occasion, can I arrange flowers? Yes, contact us directly and we can advise Can I have an online grocery shop delivered? Yes, all supermarkets deliver to us, just give them the address and the cottage you are staying in. Is there WIFI? Yes each cottage has WIFI What type of coffee machine is it? Dolce Gusto The lake A short walk away is our private lake (along the entrance drive). Please take care when near and around the lake. Always supervise children. Use the boot and dog wash at the lake, should you get muddy on your walk, before you head back to the cottage.
