Bunk with the Birds -mostly. Sleep in sight of the chickens in this tiny, rustic bunk house. 1/3 of the structure is for the chickens, the other 2/3 is for you - separated by glass. It's a chicken aquarium / PEEP SHOW The Coop has a twin and a full-sized mattress. It is BYO Bedding so come with sheets and/or sleeping bag and pillows. There is a solar charger to charge small devices and run the lamp and fan. The structure is seasonally heated with a Porta Potty near-by, bring a flashlight! The space This immersive experiential structure is part living space, part chicken coop. A large window divides the sections giving guests a “Peep Show." This Stay for the Farm Curious can include: • Tending pasture-raised poultry • Gathering eggs • Opening the coops in the morning • Putting chickens to bed at night • Potentially wash/pack eggs, given the day (All chores are, of course, optional but you do earn field cred & can sign our big egg cooler.) Chores are done pretty quick with plenty of time for hiking, biking, and skiing local trails, Jay Cooke State Park & near-by Duluth. We offer at-cost gym passes $6 to the nearby Carlton Wellness and Fitness. There you can workout, enjoy a sauna and, of course, shower. An outdoor rinsing station (think shower), potable well water, and a handwashing station is available in season (April-Oct.). Guest access Located about 25 miles south of Duluth, MN, our working farm (Locally Laid and Farm Lola) is 45 acres and has over 400 chickens seasonally from mid-April to mid-October. A winter coop hosts about 16 chickens the rest of the year. During the summer, we operate the first US-based commercial honeyberry farm with a 10-acre honeyberry orchard that also includes strawberries and blueberries.
