Bungalow 1922 Downtown sauna, putting green, king bed
Bungalow 1922 offers Bellingham living at its finest – located in the heart of downtown Bellingham. The house was elegantly remodeled in 2022. Original charm still weaves throughout each room, while modern features and amenities feel beautifully at home. Leas than a mile from WWU campus. 2 blocks from N. State Street. Bungalow 1922 is perfect for your adventures in the PNW! Explore Downtown B'ham, the San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker, Vancouver & Cascade National Park from this beautiful home. The space * Please note: There is a separate unit on the basement floor of the bungalow. It has its own entrance, parking space and backyard gate separated by bamboo plants. GREAT OUTDOORS LOCATION Our bungalow is centrally located in downtown Bellingham, an outdoorsy city on a scenic bay where people come to get outdoors. From our house you'll be just a few blocks to many cool craft breweries, local shops and some of the city’s best restaurants. In fact, Aslan Brewing Co. and the Community Food Co-op are one block away while two blocks down the road is North State Street which is a hub of activity. Take your pick of fresh seafood restaurants or enjoy one of these cuisines: Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, German, Cajun or Peruvian (we love Cafe Rumba!). We are five blocks from the popular Bellingham Farmers Market and nearby Bellingham Bay. Here, check out Waypoint Park which is leading the city’s waterfront redevelopment efforts with beach and grassy areas, beautiful landscaping, a steel art installation, bicycle pump track, and food trucks. You’ll also have easy access to all the hiking and mountain biking trails that run through – and surround – the city. And beyond Bellingham, many awe-inspiring wonders of the Pacific Northwest are near. The alpine dream of the North Cascades National Park is an hour and a half away. As is Mount Baker where you can have a big mountain ski experience at “the snowiest” ski resort. Mt. Baker has the world record for snowfall for a ski resort. We are just inland from the famous San Juan Islands where adventures of all kinds abound – from sailing and whale watching to golfing, horseback riding and farm visits. And for some big town buzz, the seaport city of Vancouver is just an hour drive north. FRONT PORCH & BACKYARD Our front porch invites you to sip morning coffee at the bistro table or slip away for “me” time in the shade. Around back, you can relax on our patio and eat al fresco meals among privacy bamboo planters and string lights. Or unwind from the day with a local craft beer as the sunset dazzles above the trees. Practice your putting on an astro turf putting green. Once the stars come out, you may even be able to see the Big Dipper – from right here in the city INDOOR SAUNA Inside the bungalow, we think you’ll love our most unique amenity: An indoor cedar sauna, like the kind you find at luxury spas. It’s wonderful for self-care or some TLC after hiking, cycling, mountain biking or skiing. Just turn on the Himalayan salt light, lean back and … let go. You can also create a steam room of sorts by pouring water on the rocks to bring up the humidity. LIVING ROOM The original beauty of our bungalow comes alive in the living room. You’ll see gorgeous wood trim, baseboards, windows, built-in cabinets and French doors that all date to 1922. And our two lounge areas honor all this history. A cream sofa sits before a wall of windows and comes with textured poufs so you can kick up your feet. On the other end, a leather sofa faces the brick fireplace – making this a cozy nook for evening drinks or relaxing with a good book. Green velvet armchairs add a pop of color as do the worldly rugs by each sofa. You can also watch your favorite TV shows and movies from both sofas. We want to give a shout-out to our friend Melissa Schenck-Thomas of Rah!Rah Creative, who designed this room and every space in Bungalow 1922. KITCHEN & DINING ROOM Sage green walls bring some zen to our kitchen while bright white cabinets and a ceramic tile backsplash add modern flair. Just like the rest of the house, there are plenty of windows in here. And enough space to cook and hang out together. Modern amenities include a luxury sink, stainless steel appliances and all-new cookware and dishware. We also have a french press, Keurig and drip coffee pot so you can start your morning right. Just off the kitchen, our formal dining room radiates turn-of-the-century elegance. Feel transported among original picture windows, a spacious built-in bench and French doors that lead to the living room. You can eat breakfast at the two-seater bar which overlooks the kitchen. Or sit down for dinner around the live edge wood table (it seats 8 people) while recounting the day’s adventures. At night, get out bingo, cards or Trivial Pursuit for game night beneath the glass globe chandelier. 2 BEDROOMS & SLEEPER SOFA Two bedrooms off the kitchen feel like something you’d find at a peaceful writer’s retreat. Both rooms have beautiful picture windows, dimmable bedside lights, crisp white bedding, patterned throw pillows and leather headboards. The residence suite has a king bed, smart TV and an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub. In the second bedroom, you’ll find a queen bed, woven wall baskets and a desk for your creative pursuits or work remote needs. Both rooms also have memory foam mattresses and mini-split heating and cooling systems to keep you comfortable. And if you need more sleeping space, the cream sofa has a queen pull-out bed. Close the French doors between the living and dining rooms to turn this into a third bedroom. 2 BATHROOMS Our bungalow has two full bathrooms with modern design touches. The en suite bathroom for the residence suite has a double vanity and tiled shower with soaking tub.
