Situated under the impossibly starry skies of Joshua Tree, Ca, the breathtaking Sunset House transports you to your very own mid-century modern desert retreat. The house is just a 5-min. drive from the National Park entrance, and a 10-min. stroll from downtown’s shops and restaurants. Despite its central location, you’ll marvel at the all-consuming quiet as you enjoy Sunset House’s unique outdoor spaces: an elevated viewing deck, picnic area, fire pit and private hot tub. The space We have put our heart and soul into this home and we hope you love it as much as we do! Enjoying the sunrise on the viewing deck with a cup of coffee, or gazing at the stars with a glass of wine... it’s pure magic. The home itself has been fully restored — paying homage to its roots as a mid-century hideaway — we've used original materials where it made sense, and interspersed them with modern appliances, furniture and other creature-comforts from super-fast wi-fi to USB charging. Outdoors, you will enjoy a private hot tub, that amazing viewing deck with a view of the nearly 30 Joshua Trees on the property, and an outdoor picnic table where you can dine surrounded by the local flora — watch out for the prickly stuff! On cool evenings gather around the outdoor fire pit or, move inside to the comfort of the wood-burning stove. Two living areas provide ample space for game night (games provided!) watching TV, or curling up with a book. It is well equipped with everything you will need: cookware, glasses, baking sheets, CrockPot, and more. Coffee lovers will find everything they need from a Nespresso machine with pods, to Joshua Tree Coffee Co. whole beans with a grinder and French Press. Assorted teas are provided as well. The bathroom has organic body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, along with plenty of towels, hairdryer, and other necessities. The Cactus bedroom features a king-sized bed, a reading nook, and an oversized closet. The Desert bedroom has a queen bed with a large closet as well. AC & HEAT Each room of the house has its own mini-split A/C unit. Please feel free to set it to the temperature that is most comfortable for you, but do remember to shut it off when you leave the house. WOOD STOVE The wood stove adds a lot of charm on those cool desert evenings. Please be responsible and only use the wood stove if you are experienced at setting fires indoors, and are able to clean up after yourself. In season, firewood is available at Jon's Market or nearby gas stations. LAUNDRY Washer and dryer can be found in the garage. Your front door entry code will work for access to garage as well. PLEASE RESPECT OUR NEIGHBORS Our neighborhood is safe and quiet, so please be respectful of our neighbors when staying at our home. Please keep noise levels to a minimum after 10 PM. Noise travels far in the thin desert air. Guest access You will have access to the entire house, all outdoor spaces, as well as garage for laundry access. Other things to note Hot Tub Service: The hot tub is serviced at least twice per week on Sundays and Wednesday or Thursdays, usually between 12pm-3:00pm. Please note that these are estimated times. Our pool/spa technician works very hard to meet this time frame, but he may arrive slightly earlier or later as his schedule allows. Security Cameras: There are 4 security cameras around the outside of the property. This for for your safety as well as the safety of our property. One camera is in the doorbell, one in the floodlight facing the front for driveway, one facing the rear of the driveway and the garage, and one facing the side of the house and entrance to backyard.
