Description
Il Vecchio Mulino is a restored former mill just outside the ancient Etruscan town of Volterra in central Tuscany. The villa is located at the end of a long drive in a secluded rural valley providing the ultimate get away location. The space The house is situated in a large, very private, garden surrounded by ancient woodland. The huge swimming pool is set on a paved terrace and is split into three pools, a shallow child's pool, a lane for swimming lengths and the main pool area. There are furnished stone terraces around the house and a barbecue and dining area for alfresco dining. Volterra is located in the heart of Tuscany and provides the perfect base to explore the region. The sea is in easy reach at Cecina (35km) and San Gimignano (20km), Florence (50km), Pisa (37km) and Siena are all nearby. Car: necessary Il Vecchio Mulino is situated just outside Volterra,a charming town with an unspoiled atmosphere, discovered by those who enjoy its quiet beauty and great location. This original Etruscan hilltop settlement, sitting atop an enormous bluff and surrounded by strong walls is a jewel of Roman, Etruscan, medieval, and Renaissance art. It is a city of magnificent vistas from farmlands to mountain views. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars in the town, perfect for wine and food lovers. The town is also famous for it's locally produced alabaster San Gimigano, Sienna, Pisa and Florence are all nearby with their fantastic attractions, shops and restaurants. The famous outlet malls are also worth a visit outside Florence for fashion lovers. The nearest beach is only 30 minutes away by car at Cecina and the glamorous beach resort of Forti di Marmi is just over an hour away. Other Activities: Cooking courses, truffle hunting, quad biking Guest access You have access to the whole house and garden area. Other things to note The house is in rural Tuscany. During the summer if there are periods with no rain the council do lower water pressure during some parts of the day to restrict water usage. This is out of our control. Mobile phone signal varies for each network. The house is down a private gravel road which is bumpy in places! You must cross a small ford to reach the house. We have no TV set up to receive channels but do have a TV with DVD player at the house and a selection of adults and childrens DVDs. We now have reliable WiFi via satellite at the property.
