The space This is a custom built eco friendly strawbale home on 2.5 acres. The main floor is an open concept post and bean design, with wraparound walls made entirely of stacked strawbales. These 18 inch walls offer great insulation, keeping it cozy warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. The house is a three level home, with total of 2400 square feet of living space with in floor heating and a gas fireplace. Amazing south facing views of the world famous Lizard Range. There are three bedrooms ( one king, one queen and one double) and 2.5 bathrooms. The kitchen is outfitted with all stainless steel appliances, and there is a barbecue on the back deck for you to enjoy year round. The backyard has its own fire pit with scenic views. You can access hiking, snowshoeing and biking trails from the yard and just down the road. Guest access You will have access to the entire house, apart from two small storage rooms and the garage. There is a separate suite located above the garage that has a full time tenant. Other things to note If you visit Fernie in the winter, expect a lot of snow! You will have to be prepared to shovel areas around the doorway entrances and walkways. The driveway will be plowed for you during your stay.
