OWNER HOSTED, Luxurious modern chalet, walkable to Heavenly, less than 1 mile to Lake! Spacious and serene floor plan with amazing forest mountain views. Radiant heat floors, stylish and fun furnishings including pool/ping pong table and piano. Max party size of 6 incl kids. Fully stocked gourmet kitchen. Sorry, no wedding, bachelor/ette, or event related groups and no gatherings of more than 6 people permitted. 2 queen bedrms (1 ensuite), one bedrm with 3 twins (2 bunkbeds). The space This is a gorgeous, high-end home where no expense has been spared. Everything in this home is digital including temp control, key access and garage door controls. The radiant heat floors make for a very pleasant experience, far superior to the dryness from forced hot air. There are no security cameras inside bedrooms and bathrooms, but the entire perimeter of the home is under a home surveillance monitoring service including the garage. This footage is monitored regularly to confirm guest count, as well as no event hosting per the listing. Also, there is a security camera in the kitchen which guests are welcome to unplug once they enter the residence. Housekeeping will plug the camera back in after each guest departure. This motion-sensitive camera is located here by the large patio door to warn against bear intrusions which have occurred many times in this home (luckily never when people are inside the house). If you are uncomfortable with this situation, this property would not be a good fit. The top floor has a very private, cute and cozy queen bedroom with private ensuite bathroom. The ground level has 2 other bedrooms (one queen and one bunk room) which share a bathroom. There is also a powder bathroom and 2 car garage with mudroom and laundry area. This home has multiple varying floor heights and small stair areas. Because of this unique design, this home is not friendly for those with mobility issues, and it is not suitable for families with young children (under age 12). There are NO shoes permitted inside. If you are someone who needs to wear shoes inside, this home will not be a good fit for you. Guests must abide by this rule because of the fragile hardwood floors. Any floor damages resulting from shoe scuffs, ski boots or or any other floor damage will be charged to the guest. Please book accordingly. The driveway is unusually shaped and the entry from the street is on a steep incline. Because we have retaining walls flanking both sides of the driveway, this home would not be suitable if you are not a confident/experienced driver, particularly when the driveway may be slippery due to winter weather. Do not book this property if you do not agree to pay for any damages resulting from guest driving mishaps on the property. Finally, there is NO smoking, permitted anywhere INSIDE or OUTSIDE this home. Please do not book this home if you or any of your guests are smokers. If any evidence of smoking is found, we will charge you an extra $1200 (through Airbnb) which is the cost in our area to cleanse professionally for smoke odors. By booking this property, you are agreeing to abide by our NO shoes inside and NO smoking policy, and also agreeing to our penalty fees for breaking these rules. Please book this home only if you have no problems with these rules. Thank you. Due to the home layout and irreplaceable nature of the artwork, we do not accept bookings from families with kids under the age of 12. Thanks for understanding. Guest access This is a hosted rental. One bedroom belongs to the homeowner and is locked off from guest access. There are also several closet areas that are locked off from guest use. South Lake Tahoe has banned short-term rentals unless an owner stays on-site. This home is one of the remaining few homes not in the tourist core that may be rented for short-term use within the city limits. Your privacy will be valued and respected while complying with the City's new laws. Owners will be available for any questions during your stay, and will likely stay completely away from guest-occupied areas of the home. PLEASE feel free to message the host for additional clarifications as this is something new for all of us. We welcome additional clarification so you are 100% completely comfortable booking your stay. Other things to note We require all guests to send a copy of their drivers license (or gov't issued ID) through the Airbnb app (just hit the "+" sign near the message window). The name on the identificaton MUST match the Airbnb guest name. Unfortunately, we will not be able to send access to the property until we receive this information. This is a requirement of our short-term if renters insurance, which is similar to policies carried by hotels and inns. Please do not book this property if you do not want to share your ID. No refunds will be provided if you decide later not to comply with this regulation. This is a very special home that was once owned by a legendary famous football player/coach. Over the last 3 years, our family has lovingly updated this home while still keeping the home's original quirky character. Please treat this home as if it were your own. Due to poor past experiences, we have a general policy of not accepting reservations from guests with no prior Airbnb reviews from hosts. If we are willing to make an exception and you are a first-time Airbnb guest, please realize this type of accommodation is VERY different from most hotel stays. We do not offer any hotel-like services, nor are we available to answer questions 24/7, as we do go to sleep fairly early or often travel to different time zones. While there is a cleaning and laundry fee, there is some upkeep that guests must be responsible for such as cleaning any used dishes and clearing your own garbage. Our detailed instructions provided before checkout must be followed. If not, housekeeping may charge guests additional fees. The home is located on a street that often gets missed by the city’s snow plows during winter storms. Please let the homeowner know if this is the case so we can complain to the city, but this is the best we can do as we live several hours away and cannot control how and when the city plows the public roads. Additionally, the driveway is located on the steeper end of the road. If you are uncomfortable driving in the snow, or icy conditions, this home would not be suitable for you as entering the driveway requires experience driving in winter weather conditions. No outdoor noise after 10 PM is permitted. This is a strict ordinance enforced by the City and also carries a $1k fine. Due to wildfire danger, no open fires are allowed anywhere in Tahoe. The BBQ grill is not for guest use. It belongs to a long-term tenant. If you are arriving during the winter snow season, it is important to be safe. Here are a few tips: - Please check the weather report & road conditions for your route to Tahoe. - Chains or AWD/4x4 are required. We are not responsible if your car gets stuck or gets damaged due to inclement weather. Please note this listing did not offer any type of covered parking when you made the booking. - Carry extra blankets & coats in your vehicle in case you get stuck. - Blackouts are often common for the area in times of heavy snow. There is a flashlight provided and the heat is through gas but please come prepared and fully charge your phone. Unfortunately, as a host there is very little I can do for you during a regional blackout, and no refunds can be granted. Please review Airbnb’s extenuating circumstances policy for weather related acts beyond a host’s control. - The property is on a snow removal service which comes after 5” of snow. This is standard for the region. They have many homes and businesses they service and are not on demand, though we are on a priority contract. Please message the host if they are not there by 3pm and there is more than 5" of snow still on the ground. Host will contact anow removal company in this instance, but no guarantees can be made. - Please use common sense during a blizzard. If the forecast calls for heavy snow, it may be a good idea to stock up on food supplies and such in advance. - We are not responsible for travel delays, ski lift closures or any other issues related to weather (it is not unusual to have blizzards, and therefore we recommend travel insurance). There is wifi and internet provided through Spectrum Cable, but it cannot be guaranteed. Spectrum is notorious for outages during bad weather. There is no cable TV as decribed in the original listing - only internet streaming services which guests needs to log on through their own accounts. Please plan accordingly and remember to log out prior to departure. Please note that we only provide several days worth of basic supplies (toiletries, paper supplies, etc). If you are an extended stay guest, renting for longer than several days, we do not replenish these personal items. Do not rent this property if you are seeking hotel-style regular housekeeping service. This residence is located in the woods of the Tahoe basin. During periods of inclement weather, especially heavy rains, snow storms or below freezing temperatures, wildlife (such as spiders, beetles, bears, raccoons, bats, and mice) often seek shelter indoors. If you have a deep fear of any of these animals, we advise seeking a vacation in a different location. Host cannot be responsible for wildlife intrusion. The best way to avoid an intrusion situation is to dispose of all food trash regularly, and not leave food out on any counters or table tops. They are attracted by the smell of food and crumbs. Please read all the fine print on cancellation policy. Except for extenuating circumstances (as defined by Airbnb), my cancellation policy is strict. If you select the non-refundable option which provides for additional discounts, there is no refund at all except for extenuating circumstances. In these uncertain times with global warming, I highly suggest getting travel insurance. Traveling to the Sierra mountains at any time of year has inherent risks and uncertainty, such as Covid, snow, air quality, fires, road conditions, personal health problems, or any other reason. As such, we expect our guests to mitigate these risks by purchasing trip insurance. We personally have been purchasing trip insurance through Insuremytrip - the cost seems to be around $40 per $1000 in coverage, but you are free to procure your own preferred vendor for trip insurance, including the trip cancellation coverage now provided by Airbnb. Our cancelation policy is clear, and we abide by those terms agreed to upon your booking. Doing this will ease both of our concerns and help you should you need to make changes to your plans for a variety of reasons. If an unexpected occurrence such as an accident or health emergency should arise, we refer all guests to their travel insurance policy for reimbursement. If you need to modify or alter, your reservation, the same cancellation policy applies, so please confirm your dates work before booking. Absolutely no changes permitted within 30 days of your reservation. We are not a “business” like a hotel, and unfortunately, we do not have the flexibility to accommodate last-minute changes or cancellation refunds, after we’ve blocked off our calendar for your booking. If guests tamper with, disconnect, block, or unplug equipment, including wifi, modem, exterior security cameras, locked closets or cabinets which explicitly state “owner use only”, guests will be charged $500, trip cancelled with no refunds, and will be asked to leave property for violating Airbnb community standards of disrespecting the host’s space.
