Description
Adorable sunny writer's cottage, fully updated interior 2021, 1 block to lake & public dock, 100 yards to Burke Gilman Trail, quiet and magical neighborhood on dead end street near Lake Washington. Covered front porch with swing, 1 block from city hall, library, bakery, gym, grocery, bus stop. Beautiful back yard cedar deck off french doors of kitchen. Second bedroom furnished as office. Perfect for a couple or one person. The space Beautiful little cottage originally built as vacation cottage in 1948. Quiet, stunning dead-end street near Lake Washington. Only one block down paved trail to public park with dock and swimming. Sit on the front porch for morning coffee, or dinner, in the lush green garden. We are a mid-aged couple who live here except when traveling. Our cottage is therefore stocked with everything you could possibly need. We remove all clothing and create space for you while you're here, but you'll notice it's Old School AirBnb, this is not a property purchased only for guests like a hotel. Books, knick-knacks, fully loaded kitchen, spice rack, art and cookbooks all are contained within, with a homegrown quality, and you'll want for nothing while you're here. The lovely main bedroom has empty drawers for your clothing, a closet, and a smaller office/bedroom with a comfy floor mattress available for sleeping for one person (good for a child but full size if an adult wants to sleep on a mattress on the floor in their own private room). Bathroom has a full tub and shower. Wide beautiful sun-filled front porch with a swing and rocking chairs for enjoying outside summer. Back deck has picnic table plus dining table for guests, and plenty of seating. Our adorable cottage is only one block from the town center where Lake Forest Park City Hall resides, an exquisite bakery, the local library, Third Place bookstore, restaurants, the Chocolate Man store, Safeway, pharmacy, bank, Planet Fitness gym, jewelry and gifts, dance studio, Ross clothing store, and hardware store. Everything you need is one block away. A second more extensive grocery with multitudes of local food and organic produce is 2 miles up the hill. Farmers market is open across the street every Sunday with local produce, wonderful gifts, and fabulous food. The local Animal Acres Park (a short walk away) hosts outdoor concerts and theater performances all summer. Walks are gorgeous in every direction. You can take the bike trail north to Bothell and Woodinville, or south right into the city next to the University of Washington (many people commute to the U.of W. via bicycle from our location in Lake Forest Park). There is one lovely bus with wifi and air conditioning that leaves every 30 minutes heading southbound into Seattle or the link, from the corner only one block away. Just north down the Burke Gilman trail is a public beach with kayak and paddle board rentals, bathrooms, a large dock great for sunbathing or swimming, and a public fireworks show on July 4th. Easy access to everything, in a quiet northern part of Seattle. A gorgeous place to spend time during summer season. We have one bicycle available for your use (stored in a shed in our back yard). Our property has a backyard ADU separate dwelling currently occupied (he's very agreeable and will be aware of your visit). Completely separate entrance through a side gate, totally private, we never see the renter and he is often traveling for work. Renter has exclusive use of driveway for parking. You'll be able to park in two uncovered street spaces right in front of the cottage or on the opposite side of the street. Wifi is high speed and boosted throughout the cottage and fully functioning on the back deck. Primary bedroom has a queen 8 inch memory foam mattress on a sturdy and very comfortable Pottery Barn bed. If you request an additional single bed, we will place a twin-sized mattress on the floor in the second bedroom/office, made up with sheets and blankets. NOTE: As mentioned, this is the primary home for two almost-retired people. Things are lived in, not brand new, and imperfect. We love opening our home to people on the move, earning a little income while we do it, and making travel possible for us all and using empty space efficiently. Everything works, but you won't find things in perfect condition. You might find some fun and creative surprises. Guest access You will have the place 100% to yourselves as we are traveling during this time. Backyard studio tenant will know you are visiting should you need anything (and they are superbly helpful and friendly). Please note: there is no television (we watch netflix on our laptops). Other things to note You have full access to a big kitchen well-stocked with cooking utensils of every kind, a huge outdoor barbecue, a big fridge and bright skylights overhead. Some food basic items will be left in cupboards (you are free to use) and we'll make room for your food and grocery items, and leave the fridge clean and open for you. The kitchen has a huge amount of plates, cutlery and all you need to entertain friends if you like (nice for outdoor deck area during summer), plus a dishwasher and garbage disposal. Everything has been updated and in excellent condition. Washer-dryer 2020 unit is in a cupboard in the kitchen.
