The space Milos, which in Greek means windmill, is one of the most cherished historical landmarks of the island. Located in the Old Village of Alonnisos, Milos was built in 1850 and has since played a vital role in local life—once ensuring flour production for the community and serving as a gathering point during traditional festivities. In 2015, the interior of the windmill and its surrounding areas were carefully restored through a successful crowdfunding campaign. The restoration respectfully enhanced its historical character, adding elegance and comfort while preserving its authentic soul. Today, staying at Milos is more than accommodation—it is an immersive journey into the island’s past, offering guests a unique perspective on Alonnisos’ heritage. Enjoy breakfast overlooking the Aegean Sea, or savor a glass of retsina after a day at the beach, as Milos gradually reveals its stories—one day at a time. Inside Milos : This four-level traditional stone windmill can accommodate up to six guests and is arranged as follows: • Ground floor: Dining area, a charming handcrafted kitchenette, and a compact bathroom with shower • First floor: Bedroom with a double bed • Second floor: Bedroom with two single beds (can be joined) • Third floor: Bedroom with two single beds (can be joined) An original stone staircase connects all levels. There are no doors separating the rooms; each sleeping area is located on its own floor, offering a unique and open-plan living experience. ⚠️ Important note about the bathroom As this is an authentic windmill dating back to 1850, the bathroom is similar in size to a boat bathroom. It is fully equipped, includes a hot shower, and meets all basic needs, but it is quite compact. If a spacious bathroom is essential for your comfort, we recommend exploring our other properties. Outdoor Setting The windmill is surrounded by a circular terrace offering panoramic views of the coastline and the Aegean Sea—an ideal setting for morning coffee, relaxed meals, or quiet moments at sunset. Additionally, guests also have access to an outdoor shower, perfect for rinsing off after a day at the beach while enjoying the open-air island atmosphere. Guest access Guests have access to the whole building and its facilities. Other things to note Vehicles are available for renting on the island. In August though, because of the high demand, it might be hard to get a rental vehicle so plan ahead to avoid hustle. During the highest season in Alonninsos, the Old Village is quite vibrant. In the evenings, there is live Greek music and busy restaurants on the surroundings of the windmill. If silence is a priority for you, the central part of the Old Village, including the windmill, might not be the best choice for you between late July and late August.
