Tourism License VT CO 070 A Casa da Chavella is a traditional Galician country house, carefully restored to create a comfortable and peaceful holiday home. It is located in a small rural village just a few minutes from the coast, surrounded by nature and well placed for exploring both A Costa da Morte — its beaches, villages, woodlands and Atlantic landscapes — and the rest of Galicia. The house is rented exclusively to one group and offers 270 m² over two floors, sleeping up to 10 guests in 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It stands on a private 4,000 m² estate, for the exclusive use of our guests, with a fully enclosed 1,000 m² garden, a private swimming pool with a safety fence and a small organic vegetable garden. The restoration combines traditional Galician architecture with a contemporary, timeless design. Much of the furniture was specially designed for the house and made using reclaimed fine woods, working with trusted local craftsmen and professionals. Every element was carefully chosen to make the house comfortable, functional and welcoming while preserving its character. The spacious layout, thoughtful design and connection with the outdoors make the ground floor and garden accessible to guests with reduced mobility. Although the house can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people, A Casa da Chavella is equally suited to couples, families or friends. Its layout and connection with the outdoors and surrounding landscape make it welcoming whether you are staying as a couple or as a larger group. LIVING & DINING ROOM The heart of the house is its spacious living and dining room, arranged around the fireplace with several areas: a sitting area, a space for reading and games, and a dining area with a large reclaimed-wood table designed for long meals and lingering conversations. The living room has beautiful views across the valley, which change with the light and the seasons. The kitchen also looks out over the landscape. In winter, the fireplace makes the room especially inviting; in warmer months, life naturally moves outside to the garden, porches and terrace. KITCHEN The kitchen is fully equipped and also designed for those who enjoy cooking during their holidays. 5 BEDROOMS & 3 BATHROOMS The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. On the ground floor there are two spacious bedrooms, each of which can be prepared with either a double bed or twin beds, together with an accessible bathroom. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms: one with a double bed and access to a sunny terrace of more than 50 m²; another with a double bed and dressing room; and a suite which can be arranged with either a double bed or twin beds and has a whirlpool bath. PRIVATE GARDEN, POOL & VEGETABLE GARDEN Life here also takes place outdoors: there are different places to sit, porches and terraces, trees, flowers, a private swimming pool, outdoor dining area and barbecue. The pool has a safety fence. The garden also includes a small organic vegetable garden where, depending on the season, guests can pick some fruit, vegetables and herbs for cooking. It is a place to spend time without needing to make plans. The pleasure is simply being here: reading in the shade, swimming, cooking with local produce, picking something from the garden when it is in season, eating outdoors, walking around the garden or simply listening to the birds and watching the changing light across the valley. And when you feel like walking a little further, there is no need to take the car: quiet paths through fields and woodland begin just a few metres from the house. A BASE FOR EXPLORING GALICIA A Casa da Chavella is in Verdillo, a peaceful rural setting with excellent road connections. The motorway is just 5 minutes away, as is Carballo, the main town in the area. From here, it is easy to explore A Costa da Morte as well as the Rías Altas, Rías Baixas and inland Galicia. A Coruña is around 20 minutes away and Santiago de Compostela around 35 minutes. Pontevedra is less than an hour away and Vigo approximately 1½ hours. BEACHES & SURROUNDINGS Just 12 minutes by car is Razo-Baldaio, one of Spain's finest wild beaches: almost 6 km of sand, dunes, marshes and a saltwater lagoon. From there, following the coast, you will find more beaches, small fishing villages and the unspoilt landscapes of A Costa da Morte. Malpica and Caión are around 15 minutes away, Ponteceso 20 minutes, Laxe 30 minutes, Fisterra 45 minutes and Muxía around 50 minutes. If you enjoy walking, quiet paths begin just a few metres from the house, allowing you to explore fields and woodland without having to drive anywhere. ACTIVITIES & WALKS The area is ideal for surfing, horse riding, kayaking, cycling and walking along beaches, through fields and woodland. A particularly recommended route is the Ruta dos Pinos do Mar, a coastal trail running parallel to the Atlantic between Caión and Malpica. Part of the route crosses the dunes and continues along the beach, with walks of up to 6 km beside the sea. Surf lessons and bicycle hire are also available at Razo beach. LIGHTHOUSES, VILLAGES & A COSTA DA MORTE The area's most iconic lighthouses are easily reached from the house, including Fisterra, Punta Nariga, Cabo Vilán and O Roncudo, as well as small fishing villages and towns with a strong local identity. LOCAL SERVICES & EVERYDAY LIFE Just 5 minutes by car, Carballo offers everything you may need during your stay: thermal baths, medical services, supermarkets and hypermarkets, local shops, restaurants, cafés and tapas bars, swimming pools, a shopping centre with shops and cinemas, padel courts and a golf course nearby. There are also good places to eat close to the house, from family-run restaurants to Michelin-starred dining. In Verdillo itself, in Carballo and at Razo beach, there are restaurants where you can also order food to take away. Every Thursday, and on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, Carballo hosts a local market selling fresh produce from the surrounding area.
