Description
Set in a 1920 Hudson Valley farmhouse at the historic crossroads of Stone Ridge, this peaceful first-floor retreat blends historic character with a private wood-fired outdoor sauna just steps from the backyard stone patio. Spend your days hiking nearby trails or exploring the hamlets of the Rondout Valley, then unwind with a sauna session and quiet evenings in a classic Hudson Valley setting. The space This is the entire first floor of the home, set up as a place to slow down, reset, and actually enjoy being in the space — not just sleep in it. The living room centers around a propane stove, which brings steady warmth and a grounded, calm feeling, especially in colder months. It’s one of those features that quietly shapes your evenings here. The kitchen is fully equipped, but more importantly, it reflects how we approach hospitality. We don’t treat things like coffee as a checkbox. What you’ll find is a thoughtfully chosen coffee setup — something we’ve tested, refined, and actually use ourselves. The goal is simple: a slow, good morning that feels like a break from routine. The bedroom is positioned away from the main area, creating a quieter place to rest. Where this space really comes together is outside. You have direct access to the wood-fired sauna and stone patio, and for many guests this becomes the center of the stay. A natural rhythm tends to form here: coffee in the morning, time outdoors during the day, sauna in the evening, and a slower night afterward. There’s also a front porch, simple and understated — another place to step outside for a few quiet minutes. The home is split into two units. The upstairs apartment may be occupied, but your space and outdoor access remain fully private. Guest access Guests have private access to the entire first-floor apartment. The backyard area, sauna, and stone patio are also available for guest use during your stay. The upstairs loft is a separate apartment and may occasionally be occupied by other guests. Other things to note Things to do around: Apartment is located within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, yoga studios and groceries. There is also plenty of active stuff to do including biking, hiking, swimming, rock-climbing, skydiving, paragliding, wine tasting, restaurants, art centers, organic farms, harvest picking including apples, blueberries, peach, raspberry and more, stargazing and many more. Please check our guestbook for more information Water quality note: We live in the Gunks and water is well known to be hard in our region. It is full of minerals including sulfur, so it is normal to feel some smell at times. First thing to note that none of the minerals in the water is a health issue thread which is confirmed by our water service company. We also do have water treatment systems installed. First stage is a large particle water filter which I usually change every 4-6 weeks. Second stage is a Clack water with filter medium that handles hard water and sulphur. The second stage is serviced every 4 month by professional water treatment company (Pure Bliss water service) that check water quality every time they provide periodic service. Additionally kitchen sinks are equipped with faucet filters. Other guests: Please take a note that if you rent lower apartment there might be guests on the second floor and you will most probably hear them as it is an old colonial house and installation is not to the modern standards. Also there are double doors between upstairs and downstairs apartment that are securely latched for privacy from both sides. . Local shopping: There are a number groceries within walking distance from the house: First recommendation is Emmanuel's Market Place. It is about 10-15 min away on Main street going right from the house. Davenport Farms is on Main street 15 minutes away going right from the house. Finally, you can use Corner Store at Mobile gas station for basic necessities. it is also on Main street and only 3-5 minutes going left. It is open 24/7.
