Tranquil lakeside log house
Surrounded by forest and wild blueberry fields--our treasured retreat for boating, swimming, fishing, sitting on the deck overlooking the lake, eating fresh lobster, spotting bald eagles and listening to the loons The house is simple but comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, electric heat and wood stove for cool nights. There are three bedrooms: 1 with double bed, one with queen-size bed, and one with two single beds . There is a main bathroom with a shower, and a small half-bath (toilet and sink). You get to the house on a 1.5 mile private dirt road. No TV, but we have fiber optic Wi-Fi (not for heavy streaming use). There is a simple CD player. This is a place for enjoying the woods and the lake, listening to music, conversation, sitting on the deck and watching the eagles fly overhead, and listening to the mysterious call of loons. Entire house is yours. Parking for 2 cars on a bed of pine needles behind the house. We can be reached by phone with questions any time. The caretaker lives near the entrance to our access road, and will address any problems that might arise at the house. Our lake, Abrams Pond, is a gem. 95% of the time, when you look out at the lake, you will see no boats, or maybe a kayak or canoe. Once in a while, you might see a water-skier. You can swim off our dock, kayak around the lake, and watch spectacular sunsets from the deck or the dock. No public transportation. But convenient by car to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Schoodic Peninsula, and many hikes. WiFi allows renters to place on-line grocery orders at the Hannaford Supermarket in Ellsworth, and pick-up just inside the entrance to the store.
