Private Home + Yard about 15 houses from the beach! In the 1940's/1950's Gregory Peck made Villa Tranquila his home and Rita Hayworth kept Villa Serena as her San Diego residence. These actors performed frequently at the La Jolla Playhouse. Some say Mr Peck's presence left this darling home charmed. We agree. The space This 1920's crafstman-style home with small yard is a true gem. As a vintage home in a relatively quiet neighborhood, it's perfect for guests wanting more tranquility than the partying areas of SD. Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining. The vintage kitchen has what you need to prepare meals from scratch including a spice rack and condiments. The outdoor and indoor tables each seat four. The cozy living room has a soft, down-stuffed sofa that can seat 2 adults and 2 kids. This cozy little room is most comfortable when the sofa bed is in couch position, however, if you need a 3rd bed, the sofa opens up. The powerful, gas wall heater in the dining room heats the whole home. Our 2-bedroom/ 1 bath offers the following: Main bedroom with queen bed, drawers, closet, a window, access to the bathroom (Tranquila has a second entrance to bathroom via kitchen). It has an air conditioner for Summer. Other times of year, the home stays quite comfortable with natural ventilation. The guest room offers a tall, full-size platform bed with a lot of space for luggage beneath it. It's small with no closet but has some clothing storage. It has a large window to let in natural light and beachy air. It comes with a fan for cooling. Security screen doors at front and back of house allow ocean breeze to naturally refresh the home while you're in it or away. Enjoy outdoor dining with a private outdoor space and a table that seats 4. IMPORTANT: Book our larger cottage with 2 bathrooms or two adjacent cottages for you larger family or group. Pet rent is $20/night/pet for most pets. Our insurance does not allow animals with a history of aggression or wild canines, Akitas, Cane Corsos, Chow Chows, Dogo Argentinos, Pit Bulls (includes all bully types informally labeled as a type of "Pit Bull"), Presa Canario, Rottweilers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or mixes/hybrids containing these. 🌿 We're Health-conscious & Nature-friendly! We focus on cleanliness and pet-safer pest control products (which can take longer to work). By booking, you acknowledge that occasional visits from tiny locals and evidence of 4-legged guests is part of the experience and not grounds for complaints/refunds. 🎉Big group? Book up to four of our adjacent cottages for up to 24 guests! 🌊 Provided beach gear include chairs, towels, and boogie board(s). If desired, snorkel gear may be be rented at nearby shops. 🧻To start your stay, you'll receive a free 2-day supply of essentials like soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. ⏰ Please note that same-day bookings may require later check-in for last-minute cleaning and such. Compensation for delays is baked into the last-minute discount (typically 30-60% off the first night). 💰Save! Pay only for the cleaning necessitated by your stay. We have very low up-front cleaning fees to reward guests who keep the home clean. If more than basic sanitizing is needed, only the guests who leave a home dirty are affected. Renters are subject to screening & must provide proof of identity to the host or a host-specified screening platform such as Truvi (which requires a fee to be paid by the guest). For stays of one-month or more, landlord-approval, and lease signing are required. ❄️A/C is available when the average daily temperature exceeds 75 degrees. For Villa Tranquila, AC is limited to main bedroom at this time. For Summer 2026, we plan to add another window AC unit, but we aren't sure if the electrical in this historical home can support the use of both. Fans are provided.
