The space Welcome to April Cottage A cosy Devon escape with history, charm, and a little “Hygge” magic. Our Story & What “Hygge” Means Hi! We’re Joanne and Daniel High. Over a decade ago, we swapped life in the South East for the peaceful beauty of Devon - and we’ve never looked back. Living nearby, we wanted to share the magic we’ve found here by creating a warm and welcoming space for others to relax and explore the area we love. The property is a warm, inviting, and quintessentially Devonian mining cottage with a big helping of Hygge inside. Hygge (pronounced Hue-guh) is a Danish word (not easily translated to English) that acknowledges a special feeling or moment. For us, it means a special kind of cosiness when you feel warm, comfortable and happy. We have lovingly furnished and designed the interior with this in mind. To create the perfect Hygge escape. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a longer stay, the space is designed to be both comfortable and inspiring.
