Ross & Penny welcome you to the heart of Leigh. 2 mins walk from beautiful Leigh harbour, wharf, boatramp & Coastal Walk. Gorgeous 180 views from the deck. Park your boat & car. Walk/drive 2 mins to Leigh Sawmill, 10 to Goat Island. 2 lovely bedrooms, 1 Queen with Brand new bed (TV & DVD) & 1 Double side-by-side with your bathroom & toilet on 1 level. T/V lounge with Netflix, living area & deck. Snorkeling gear. Treat of homemade toffee on arrival. Tea, coffee & biscuits available any time. The space Ross and Penny have been Air B&B Superhosts consistently and give you a warm welcome to their home. This wonderful location in the heart of Leigh, an hour easy drive North from Auckland. Two lovely rooms beautifully prepared for your arrival with private bathroom, toilet and separate lounge for your use. We only take 1 booking at a time, so you will only share the bathroom with your group. Refrigerator and freezer space if required. Two deck areas to enjoy the views around Leigh. Extensive delicious continental breakfast is included which can be served on the deck. You'll be staying in the centre of Leigh with the very pretty Leigh Harbour, wharf and boat ramp just a few minutes walk away. Many fabulous walks close by including the coastal walkway just at the end of the street where you will enjoy walking beside many lovely pohutukawa as you look out to sea. This track leads to Matheson Bay. Take an evening drive to Tawharanui and as it gets dark look for some of the resident kiwi there. (A red torch is a big help). Leigh is the gateway to Goat Island Marine Reserve, a famous snorkeling area and the Marine Discovery Centre also Daniels Reef, Pakiri Beach and Tawharanui for surfing. Matheson Bay is well known for diving and family friendly swimming. Following the instigation of Pest Free Leigh trapping, this area has an explosion of birdlife for nature enthusiasts and a beautiful night sky. Leigh has lots of other entertainment and activities to enjoy. Ranging from world class art presentation at the Sculptureum, more beautiful outdoor sculpture at Brick Bay, the well known Matakana Farmers Market, Morris and James Pottery and local retro shops. We are delighted to have local cinemas at Matakana to offer you and many great music gigs close to home at the Leigh Sawmill Cafe, Whangateau Folk Club and Ascension Vineyard. You may like to download the Matakana Coast App which has updates for lots of local activities and events. Please enjoy our immaculately landscaped property. Guest access We like to be home to welcome you when you arrive. The B&B has easy access inside from your car, along the path and up five steps to the front door. Inside are four steps to the living area and three to your bedroom level. Enjoy relaxing in the living areas and if you are working here, set up a work station at the dining table or wherever you are comfortable. You are welcome to enjoy all the living areas including the TV/DVD lounge which includes Netflix, front living room and spacious deck with spectacular views. Free WIFI. You may want to enjoy a stroll around our garden too. Leigh is a warm, happy and relaxed place to visit and spend some time. During your stay Ross and Penny like to be here on your arrival to welcome you and help you settle in. You'll be comfortable and cared for with as much privacy as you choose. Ross and Penny have their own room and en-suite on the next floor above and will respect your space here. We serve a delicious Continental breakfast to you in the Dining area. If you need any advice on activities in the area, we are pleased to help and there are brochures provided in the bedrooms. We know the area well and are involved in Pest Free Leigh, the Coastal Care Group and Leigh Community Club. Please just ask! Other things to note Stay with us and be close to the area's many activities: Two stunning sculpture parks, the Sculptureum and Brick Bay, wineries, craft beer at the Sawmill Brewery and 8 Wired, bike hire, golf and the Farmers market. Water sports include stand-up paddle boarding, good boat ramp, fishing charters and surfing. Other activities include Glass Bottom Boat trips and the Marine Discovery Centre at Goat Island, Leigh Sawmill Café and the Ti Point Reptile Park. The Leigh area, known as the snapper capital of New Zealand is surrounded by stunning coastal scenery and walking tracks. It is also full of culture, restaurants, fantastic movie theatres, great shopping, art galleries, retro shops and lots more. It's the perfect location for a weekend break, or stay longer and really relax. Ross and Penny have both travelled, Ross more extensively than Penny and have a great interest in other cultures. Not fluent, but Penny has a reasonable ability to speak French, plus a little Dutch and Japanese. We love swimming, reading, travel, food and making our visitors feel at home.
