AfriCamps at Stanford Hills Wine Estate

Description

Come indulge in delicious local food and wine at AfriCamps at Stanford Hills. This camp is set on a boutique wine farm in Stanford, an exciting slow food destination with chefs serving an array of fresh and locally produced food. We have 10 boutique glamping tents overlooking the Stanford Valley, a farm dam, or the surrounding mountain range. This foodie delight is only a 15-minute drive from Hermanus and can be reached from Cape Town in two hours. The space AfriCamps tents consist of a spacious open-plan lounge area with a comfortable couch and a fully equipped kitchen. The dining room area has a solid wooden table with enough seating for 5 people. For winter months the fireplace will be the perfect way to warm up the tent, bringing in an intimate setting for you and your loved ones. Five of 10 tents have a private outdoor wood-fired hot tub. Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains an extra single bunk bed, so the tent will comfortably sleep a family of 5. Our tents are equipped with an air conditioning unit to keep you cool during those hot summer nights and a private bathroom with a hot shower cabin, washbasin, and flushing toilet. The private wooden deck at the front of the tent comes with comfortable wooden loungers from where you can overlook the peaceful natural surroundings of a working farm or beautiful estate. When days get warmer you can pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a big outdoor living area. Here you can unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while enjoying the beautiful weather and taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape. Guest access Stanford Hills Estate is fast becoming one of the area’s most popular attractions. Aside from offering tastings and sales of their award-winning range of wines there are a variety of other activities and attractions. The restaurant, The Tasting Room, is set above a dam with endless views over the Stanford Valley. The restaurant has a reputation for laid back fun, with the emphasis on fresh and inventive food of an exceptionally high standard. The chalkboard menu changes daily according to what is locally fresh and available, including items from their own vegetable garden. The farm also produces Proteas and Pincushions, which are endemic to South Africa, so from August through November the farm is filled with these colourful blooms. The farm offers horse-riding, hiking and even whale-watching by air in a small airplane which takes off from the farm’s private landing strip. You can also have a swim in a farm dam, try your hand at fishing, or simply lie in bed and listen to the birds. One of the best ways to experience the picturesque Karoo landscape is by e-bike. Our brand-new e-Rides e-bike rental services are available at AfriCamps Karoo 1. Beautiful landscapes, delicious food, fascinating history, and thrilling adventure are all at the heart of our e-bike routes. Other things to note AfriCamps at Stanford Hills is one of four dog-friendly camps. If you wish to take your dog on holiday, please obtain the prior consent of AfriCamps, when making your booking. Where dogs are allowed, only one dog per tent is permitted, and a fee of R250 per dog per stay will apply.
