Description
Nedre Svarverkjær Gård is an old farmhouse where the main house has been renovated. The house is idyllically situated in a clearing in the woods with a beautiful apple garden and warm surroundings. There is a short walking distance to several bathing and fishing waters. The house has 2 bedrooms and 1 sleeping alcove, see pictures. I work in Tromsø, but the farm is such a beautiful place that I don't want it to be empty here when I'm not home. Hope you will enjoy your stay. Pets are welcome, but remember to keep them on a leash. Welcome to the farm! The space Welcome to Nedre Svarverkjær Gård! Nedre Svarverkjær Gård is a charming place located in a peaceful forest edge. The main house has been renovated and combines historical charm with modern amenities. The beautiful surroundings include an old apple garden that creates a quiet oasis for relaxation in the hammocks. The farm consists of five houses, and you can use the main house and the nearby outhouse. The family uses the house below the barn at the other end of the property, the honey hut. My mother is a beekeeper, so you can meet her when she harvests honey in the summer. In addition, the shed is used by the family for carpentry. Although they usually don't make much of a fuss, don't be surprised if you see them there. Only a short walk away from the main house you will find several nice lakes that are perfect for swimming and fishing. We have upgraded the property with a new kitchen and bathroom while preserving the traditional style of the farm. Enjoy the tranquility of our patio with a comfortable sofa and hammocks. We offer high-speed internet and a small Apple TV for entertainment. Experience the cozy atmosphere by the fireplace - we provide firewood. Bed linens and towels are included in the stay. You will find basic dry goods such as flour, sugar, salt, tea and more, but please save some coffee for my return. If you use a lot of the dry provisions, I would appreciate it if you replenish the stock. In case you need anything else, the nearest store is only a 15-minute drive away. We welcome pets, but ask that they be kept on a leash to protect the varied wildlife, including deer, badgers, hares and deer. In the summer you can also encounter livestock such as highland cattle, horses, sheep and chickens in the village. Take a trip to this little gem and experience the best of nature with modern amenities. Welcome to the farm! Guest access The house has about 86 sqm floor space and two levels. 1st floor contains hallway, bathroom with bathtub, shower and washing machine, kitchen with dishwasher and living room with fireplace and TV. 2nd floor contains two large bedrooms and a living room with sleeping alcoves. The entrance area outside has a cozy porch and the garden is large and cozy. Several possible seats on the porch and in the garden. There is a large round Weber charcoal grill available. The house has fiber optic internet and TV. There is floor heating in the bathroom, hallway and kitchen. It's usually turned off in the summer. I have spent two years renovating the main house and I am very happy with the result. Svarverkjær is my home and I therefore have some personal belongings lying around. Pictures on the wall, food in the freezer and dry food etc. Other things to note If you are several families or a large group, my mother rents out the neighboring house. We can arrange for you to rent both houses. During the summer, it is advisable to be a little careful with water consumption if it is very dry. If you are looking for tranquility and amazing nature, this is the perfect place for you! Practical facilities are never far away, with the nearest store only 15 minutes from the farm, run by my sister. Måjohamat, a 24-hour shop in Meikjær, also has a fitness center. For those who want to explore more, it takes about 30 minutes to drive to Kragerø city center in the south and 40 minutes to Porsgrunn in the north. A 1.5-hour drive will take you to the popular Bø Sommerland. I highly recommend a visit to the Telemark Canal. The canal was chiseled out of the mountain over 100 years ago, and was completed in 1892. The canal connects Telemark's coast with the hinterland through eight locks over a distance of 105 km from Skien to Dalen. It consists of two waterways: Skien-Dalen and Skien-Notodden. You can experience the Telemark Canal with ferry, rental boats, your own boat, canoes and kayaks. Or take the ferry to Jomfruland outside Kragerø. Jomfruland, an island with unique nature and an exciting history, is a pearl in Kragerø's beautiful archipelago. Here you will find farms, beaches and unique cottages scattered across the island. In the Viking Age, the island was known as Aur, which means "gravel and coarse sand mixed with pebbles". Jomfruland rose from the sea about 4,000 years ago after the last ice age as a moraine, and still bears the mark of this history. Due to its geological significance, Jomfruland is part of Gea Norvegica Geopark. The island is an important part of Europe's geology, and shows great geological diversity both nationally and internationally. Since 2016, Jomfruland has been designated as a national park!
