Den Gule Krambua - Gamle Lærdalsøyri - main street old town
Description
Three historic storage rooms in a well-kept grocery store from 1852 have been transformed into a unique design apartment with all modern facilities. "Den Gule Krambua" at Gamle Lærdalsøyri has been carefully renovated with details from 170 years of trading incorporated into the interior. The apartment is located on the second floor, in the middle of the historic trading place with minimal walking distance to cafes, shops and experiences. You look straight down on the life in the old Øyragata (pedestrian street), which is also part of Kongevegen over Filefjell. The space The Yellow Krambua is one of the four well-known grocery stores that are lined up in Øyragata in Gamle Lærdalsøyri. Here, the well-known merchant Jan Henrik Nitter Hansen had his land trade and warehouse in the mid-1800s - right in the middle of the main street in the trading town of Lærdal, where Sognefjorden met land and the traffic went east-west on Kongevegen right outside the door. The second and third floors here were storage rooms for the land merchant Hansen, who was among the richest in Western Norway in the 19th century. Now the storage rooms have become a design apartment with living room, kitchen and bathroom. As well as a large bedroom with period furnishings and a lovely double bed. The warehouse on the top floor has become a loft with four beds. Up to 6 people can live in Den Gule Krambua, which was completely renovated in June 2020. Old Lærdalsøyri is an authentic trading town from the time when horse and cart filled the streets and steamboats lay and blew at the pier. The town is one of Norway's best preserved wooden house villages. Now Den Gule Krambua from 1852 can be your home here. Other things to note Here is a real candy store (with homemade candies) on the floor below, there is a coffee bar right across the street, a café on the slope across the street, a grocery store with local food in the neighboring building, a concept store in the other neighboring building, a thrift store just across the square. And 170 cute wooden houses in all directions!
