Description

The Bäckerhaus is an extraordinary architectural house whose open design is fully designed for brightness. Until 20 years ago, the baker family of Wewelsfleth lived here, then the owner of the neighboring Old Ferry House took over the property and realized the dream of a bright "social house". Families and friends will find a beautiful retreat here - just 30 minutes from Hamburg's city limits. The space BEDS AND ROOMS The Bäckerhaus is at your disposal with its 250 sqm for your exclusive use and offers space for 12 guests in 6 bedrooms. From the south-facing rooms you have a beautiful view over the Stör. 4 of the 6 bedrooms are located in our attic, they are each accessible via wooden ladders and therefore suitable for young and young at heart. Some of the rooms have only minimal sound insulation to the neighboring rooms, since they are, for example, only separated from the bedrooms below by simple floorboards. In the Bäckerhaus itself there is a full bathroom on the upper floor and a toilet on the ground floor. A second full bathroom can be used in the old ferry house. For this purpose, you have to scurry across the approx. 5 m wide courtyard, which is not visible from the street, and directly behind the entrance of the staircase on the left is the second full bathroom, which may only be used by the guests of the Bäckerhaus. The highlight of our floor living room is the glass floor, which reveals the view of the 80 sqm living and dining room below. Light flows through both rooms from the fully glazed side of the house facing the garden. In the living room of the ground floor there is a fireplace for which we are happy to provide firewood if necessary. If you need even more space, we offer the apartments "Boven" (19 guests) and "Unnern" (8 guests) in the neighboring "Alten Fährhaus" and up to 5 more rooms can be rented in the Landgasthof Lüders, which is only a 5-minute walk away. GARDEN The Bäckerhaus has a small terrace with a grill and parasols as needed. The terrace is intended only for you, but does not offer privacy from the other guests who may be on the property. The approx. 3000 sqm shared garden below the dike slope, directly behind the house, also offers children a lot of space to run around. There is also our garden sauna, which can of course be used. Since we rent two other accommodations on the property, we are happy to coordinate the times of use with the groups so that there are no overlaps. VILLAGE LIFE In the cute village of Wewelsfleth there is a local shop, a fruit and vegetable stand, a bakery, the Landgasthof Lüders and a Greek bistro within a 10-minute walk. SUPS/CANOES/KAJAKS The accommodation is less than a 5-minute walk from the Störr. On request, we are happy to lend up to 10 stand-up paddle boards, 2 canoes and 4 kayaks. Attention: You have to pay attention to the different currents. ACTIVITIES The Bäckerhaus is located directly opposite the small harbor of Wewelsfleth. To enjoy nature, you can leave the car behind: Upstream you can reach a 50 hectare bird sanctuary located in a Stör loop on the dike crest or the barely traveled small road towards Beidenfleth. Alternatively, you can start south of the shipyard along the Stör towards the Elbe, past the Stör barrage to Krey's Deichladen, which is behind the Elbe dyke. From there, a small road takes you back to Wewelsfleth. The town of Glückstadt, which was invented by the Danish King Christian IV on the drawing board, is only 10 minutes away by car and it is no further to Brokdorf, where in summer a heated outdoor pool at the Elbe beach and in winter an ice rink provide fun for young and old. Here in Glückstadt you can rent bicycles at the tourist information office for 7 EUR per day or EUR 30 per week, with which not only the dikes can be explored excellently. Children's bicycles can also be rented there. If you want to go further afield, you can reach the North Sea near Friedrichskoog in 45 minutes, where you can go mudflat hiking and visit the seal rescue station or the huge indoor playground Willi Wal. In 60-90 minutes you can reach Germany's largest sandpit - Sankt Peter Ording - or the charming towns of Büsum, Husum, Tönning and Friedrichstadt. The Glückstadt-Wischhafen Elbe ferry is 10 minutes away by car and takes you to the other side of the Elbe, where Stade with its picturesque city scenery awaits you and a day trip to Cuxhafen is also possible from there.
