Get yourself immerse in the picturesque old town of Peschiera Maraglio, your very first step into the island once you get the ferry from Sulzano (on the main land). "Come una volta" is a renovated vintage style building, just nearby the lake, 300 mt. walk away from the ferry station. We offer a room with sheets and breakfast included. We don't have lake view rooms CIN: IT017111B4PC9L8N4C The space “ -Come una volta- is a project that bases its roots in the strong believe that travelling and get to know other people and culture are the best way to gain some knowledge while enriching oneself ”, explained Romina, the funder and owner of this project. Romina has been living for 3 years in Senegal, Africa, cooperating with an ONG based in Brescia, mainly focused on development research. As a consequence of her working experiences, in the Country and abroad, together with several travels experience with other organisations and with friends spread out all over the world, she finally decided to take roots in Italy by giving a turn in her life. Thus, Romina decided to renovate the old house of her grandparents to give birth a shared space for those are interested in investing time in relax, walks and/or excursions around the island and surroundings. Through the year, in the guesthouse, there is the opportunity for guests and partecipants, to aquire new skills thanks to dedicated workshops, such as: meditation, yoga, eco-tourism, food&nutrients, photography, SEO, music and more, hold by passionate people who have decided to join the project “Come una volta”. Aside the workshops, large space will be given to fellow travelers who will hopefully inspire you through out their adventures, suggesting hidden spots to visit around the globe or by simply chatting about different living habits. BUILDING THE NET WITH PEOPLE AND LOCAL ARTISANS Beside the workshops, there is a widespread net connecting locals and farms around the island. That’s a good way to get to know small passionate artisans whose ancient knowledge for homemade handscrafts, help to increase and spread out the Km0 production and keep up the old family secrets. We will take you on a journey through the well-known farms and people who are taking care of this fertile land, introducing you to the Olive farms and relative oil mill based in Carzano. You will get to see one of the saffron, jams and berries farms. Why not to step into a local cellar and get back home with the flavor in your throat of the famous dried sardina, the most common living fish floating in the Iseo lake. Or maybe grasp back with you the secret on how to weave the Monte isola nets, famous all over the world since centuries. Just breath, relax and finally take the time to explore little corners of Monte Isola, one of the most beautiful medieval villages sponsored by UNESCO. Last but not least, in 2016 the visual artist Christo Vladimirov Javacheff decided to install, straight away on the surface of the lake, his famous project, “The floating Piers”.
