Description
Stay in comfort on a renovated upper floor of the 16th Century Renaissance wing of the chateau. The very spacious suite highlights the rich history of the building while adding modern conveniences. The room includes a queen size bed, and a futon for one additional person. The bathroom is in a round tower with double sinks and a walk-in shower with both rain shower head and hand-held shower head . Guests may use the living room with its library, and the walled chateau grounds and its amenities. The space The Chateau de Balsac, founded in the 12th Century, has been designated a historic landmark by the French State. Elements of its early architecture remain, while the newest parts of the building date from the 16th Century. Spiral stone staircases, mullion windows and 'meurtriers' from which defenders might have peered can all be found on the property. The park, which is surrounded by a wall, offers privacy and an uninterrupted view over the countryside. You can encounter friendly animals and relax on benches beneath mature shade trees. The chateau is open all year and is available for events. Guest access Guests have access to a large salon/living room/salon with its library, the formal dining room with its fireplace, plus a large walled park with its benches, tables, hot tub, pool...and rabbits. Sections of the park include a small orchard, a goat and sheep enclosure, chicken run, and vegetable garden with greenhouse. Rabbits roam freely in the park. During your stay The chatelaine and chatelain are available most days to answer any questions you might have and to help you to make plans for dining, transportation, seasonal activities and tours. If you need assistance with translation or communicating in French or another language, we can help. Other things to note The suites are situated on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for Americans). The access is a large stone staircase, which is not recommended for people with mobility issues.
