The Cobbles is the ideal gathering spot for friends and family to enjoy the best of New Hampshire’s Summer and Fall seasons. Located on crystal clear Sunset Lake and less than 10 miles from Alton Bay, our charming cobblestone house offers complete privacy with a spectacular backdrop. Features include exclusive access to private beach, kayaks/canoe, tennis court, screened in porch with lake view, and much more. *Please note, in July and August, we only accept 7 day rentals Saturday to Saturday* The space 2500+ sq ft of living space sleeps up to 12 with plenty of privacy. The main house sleeps 4 couples and 4 singles/children including large light-filled master bedroom with private balcony. Separate guest house comfortably sleeps another 4 guests in two rooms. Our secluded country home overlooks Sunset Lake rimmed by New Hampshire's Belknap mountains, affording dramatic sunsets throughout the summer months. Lovingly furnished over the past five decades, the house and guest house comfortably accommodate a crowd of up to 12. The main living area contains multiple seating areas for activities such as television watching (on a brand new Roku TV), reading (check our eclectic library of books!), or playing a rousing game of cards with the whole family. The master bedroom is expansive, with original cobblestone walls, a long balcony overlooking the lake, and a private full bath. The kitchen is well-equipped and convenient for cooking both large and small meals. The pastoral wooded side of the house features a large deck with a retractable awning and picnic table which serves as a favorite breakfast spot. The screened porch on the lakeside of the house is ideal for meals, art projects, day-time relaxation, and sunset-gazing over evening cocktails. Down 100 yards on a tree-lined path, you will find our private sandy beach with multiple water access points. The ideal spot for secluded sunning and swimming. Your rental comes with access to a large canoe as well as a double and a single kayak and two paddleboards,all great for exploring the expansive lake and adjacent Hills Pond. The hodge-podge of sand and water toys in the boathouse are yours to use! The town of Alton Bay is a short 15 minute drive through the mountain roads. There you will find Hannaford supermarket, gas stations, restaurants, and some of the best ice cream New Hampshire has to offer. All with stunning views Lake Winnipesaukee. Still have some energy left over? Work up a sweat on our private tennis court. Spectators can applaud your skill from a court-side bench. Relaxing strolls down country roads, vigorous jogs, or hikes up nearby hills (with plenty of pickable blueberries when in season!) are accessible within a mile of the front door. *Please note, the court is in need of repaving. Additionally, we have a few tennis/basketball related items in the garage for your use (see: boathouse hodgepodge) but any serious players should bring their own. Please note: that this is a 100+ year old seasonal family home. We do our best to keep everything up and running but we ask guests to be very careful with all furnishings/appliances and come in with the understanding that things can break or malfunction on occasion. We are always just a phone call away and have local resources to help assist us with any issues, but we do ask for some understanding and patience. Three generations of our family have enjoyed countless days here, and we are confident you will too! Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the entire property, to include the beach area, boathouse, and tennis court. Off limits areas include garage (not including recycling/trash and tennis items), the unfinished part of the basement (except for circuit breaker access if needed), "the pebbles" which is located just behind the guest house, and the linen closet on the second floor of the main house.
