Description
A secluded, luxurious retreat located on a smallholding with sheep living right next door. Once the loft of a Victorian stable set in the ground of a large country house in a beautiful rural setting, Located in the northern tip of the New Forest National Park, close to Paultons Park and Salisbury. The added bonus of a country pub 2 min walk up the road! The space The Retreat is a lovely sunny, self contained and very spacious (1100 sq ft) first floor converted stable loft which has been newly refurbished to a very high standard and everything within is there to provide you with the standard of quality you deserve. The modern kitchen is new with all the facilities you need to cook and dine-in should you wish to. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk will be provide on arrival and we often offer a selection of fresh produce for sale from our smallholding. You are welcome to visit the smallholding and share in the daily feeding of chickens and sheep or see where all the fresh produce is grown. Alternatively you may wish to cook alfresco over the fire pit or on the barbecue whilst watching the sunset over the fields in your private garden, before retiring inside to the oak beamed living area. Relax watching TV (Talk TV included) or a DVD, challenge each other to a game of Scrabble or just spend quiet time snuggled into a luxury throw whilst reading a book – all are provided for your enjoyment. There are two single sofa z beds in this space for younger children (hidden behind curtains to make their own special den) as well as a double sofa bed for older children - so plenty of options for guests. The bedroom has a king size bed with top quality Angora wood 30,000 spring mattress and high quality bed linen and anti allergy duvet. Fitted wardrobes provide ample hanging and shelving space and a ceiling fan helps to ensure you are comfortable when the weather gets warmer. The spacious shower room has a beautiful stripped wooden floor and views across the fields. There is a large walk- in shower and plenty of room for all your personal toiletries. A small selection of miniature toiletries are provided, along with good quality fluffy towels and of course loo rolls! Downstairs, as you enter your front door, there is a boot room/utility room with plenty of coat hanging space, cupboards and sink with running hot and cold water and a washing machine. Outside, there is parking inside the gates and storage can also be provided for bicycles, if you bring these with you. The private garden to The Retreat is well stocked with mature shrubs and beautiful flowering perennials with a lawn leading to a seating area overlooks the fields. Early in the morning you are likely to see deer roaming, rabbits, foxes, squirrels and a plethora of wild birds. In the evenings the sky is the domain of bats and owls or you may be lucky enough to see swallows swooping around. From your garden you can take a stroll up The Avenue - a sweeping grass walkway edged with an enormous planted mixed border and ancient brick and stone wall - along the path and out through the private gate to a footpath leading to the road and further footpaths beyond. In Spring these paths provide a magnificent spectacle, covered in a carpet of Bluebells. .Pets Although we have a dog in our main house, it is with regret that we have decided not to accept dogs at The Retreat due to the close proximity of grazing sheep. Arrival The Retreat is available for a minimum of 2 nights (4 or 7 nights min in high season). Usual check in is after 3pm and is contact free. We hope to be there to meet you, but we can always be reached by phone if you have any queries, or you need a good recommendation for eating out in one of the many pubs and restaurants near by! Pricing Prices provided here are for low season, at different times of the year price may vary. Summer is typically £150/night for 2 and includes the use of the heated pool. Additional guests from £30/night. Departure We ask all guests to strip their bed, clean the bbq (if used) and pop rubbish/recycling outside into the main bins. Departure is by 10am to enable us the maximum time between guests to ensure the property is as clean and safe as possible. Guest access Guests have their own private fenced garden and driveway. There is a walk up through The Avenue to a public footpath. Other areas of the grounds are not open to guests. Other things to note The accommodation is primarily on the first floor with stairs.
