Our reimagined historic adobe (earth brick) buildings are surrounded by lush gardens, a cowboy pool, hot tub, and all the best desert vibes. Our unique suites are carefully curated with luxury and relaxation in mind - featuring local artwork, antique furniture, vintage and handmade furnishings, and photogenic spaces. Each suite is a completely private space with a full kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Our communal style of hospitality allows you to enjoy your own private accommodations, while also having the opportunity to gather with friends or meet new people on the grounds or at the pool. Our entire property is surrounded by a 6 foot privacy wall with gated keypad access for privacy and security, and includes secured off-street parking. AMENITIES The newly remodeled 1st floor Cowgirl Suite features: * Bedroom with a king memory foam bed * Full size futon sofa bed (with memory foam topper for a comfier sofa bed) that can sleep an extra guest (in the same bedroom as king) * Bathroom with tile shower and a selection of soaps from Public Goods * Full kitchen with granite countertops, refrigerator, locally made ceramic dishware, locally roasted coffee, and all the kitchen tools you need to make a meal * Custom art and murals by local southwest artists * Living room with wraparound sofas, tons of books, comfy seating, and 65" Roku TV * Dining nook with table for 2, plus outdoor table on patio with seating for 6 * Patio overlooking the gardens with chairs to enjoy coffee or a cocktail * Saltillo tile floors and exposed wood viga ceilings * Refrigerated air conditioner and central heating (please note, our AC unit can be a bit noisy in the kitchen) * Gated off-street parking space * Fast wifi and dining table for laptop workspace PROPERTY AMENITIES * Hot Tub (open all year) * Cowboy pool (open May - September) * Fire pit * Completely gated and fenced in property with secured off-street parking * Grassy yard and garden with lots of seating areas, hammocks, and tables for enjoying a meal outside * High cleaning standards. We are committed to ensuring the safety and peace of mind of our guests and our properties are always deep cleaned and sanitized between guests PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING (we like to set clear expectations so that our guests have the best possible experience!): * The Cowgirl Suite is located on the lower level of our main building, and you may experience some noise from upstairs, typical of a 2 story historic building. * The suite is one of our largest, but the bathroom is one of our smallest (and might be a little cramped for really tall or long legged people, and requires a step up into the shower that may not be ideal for elderly/disabled guests). * The futon bed and primary bed are in the same bedroom. * This property is not suitable for pets or children under 12. If you think this might not be the best fit for you, you may wish to consider one of our upstairs or standalone suites. Guest access The Desert Compass is a boutique vacation rental property with a communal outdoor garden and pool. There are 6 total suites on the property, each with full private kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Our entire property is surrounded by a 6 ft tall privacy wall with gated keypad access. Guests have private access to the Cowgirl Suite, which is located in our main building, on the ground floor. PARKING There is *one* gated off-street parking space available on site per suite. Our parking spaces are suited for any regular sized vehicle (car, truck, SUV, up to a Sprinter van size) but unfortunately due to our narrow parking areas we cannot accommodate larger vehicles such as motorhomes, uhauls, or trailers. Additional parking is available for free on the street or in the Old Town paid lot across the street. Other things to note We use high quality PF Candle diffusers made from natural essential oils in our rooms to provide a mild, pleasant piñon scent. For guests with chemical sensitivities, we can remove the diffusers at your request with 24 hours notice, but we cannot make any guarantees about a fragrance or chemical free space. Our properties are regularly treated with organic, non-toxic (but very effective!) pest repellent. Still, this property is over 100 years old and is located in a historic neighborhood in the high desert. Bugs are a part of life here in the southwest. While we make every effort to keep it spotless for guests, we cannot completely control nature and therefore you may see the occasional bug, especially cockroaches. Please be aware of this and make sure you're ok with the possibility before booking. There are 5 exterior security cameras on the property which record sound and video 24/7. They are located over the parking areas, the pool, hot tub areas and gardens, the front pedestrian gate, and the front driveway gate (exterior, common areas of the property only).
