According to a 1976 newspaper article, a local legend recounts that the house floated up the river during the 1937 flood, and was later set on a foundation—earning it the enduring nickname, "the shanty boat." This rich history adds to the property's distinctive character and charm. The space The Shantyboathouse provides an exceptional setting for both relaxation and entertainment. Guests will enjoy a chef's kitchen, televisions in every room, and a spacious patio equipped with a bar, surround sound system, and a Big Green Egg grill—perfect for preparing burgers and steaks. The upper deck offers a tranquil spot to savor a morning coffee or evening bourbon while taking in picturesque views of the pedestrian bridge. After a day spent at the track, unwind in the backyard with a game of corn hole or a soak in the hot tub. Notably, the Shantyboathouse was recognized as Louisville’s Home of the Week in March 2021, further highlighting its unique appeal and character. Guest access You access the house through the side gate located to the right side of the house.
