Our family-owned, renovated, 1-bedroom apt. is well-maintained, quiet & spacious. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, the apt. is located on the top floor of our house. We are across from a park & the W. River Parkway (Mississippi River). Enjoy a sun-drenched living room, bed w/ goose down comforter, a full bath & coffee in our renovated kitchen. We are near the U of MN, Augsburg U, and M Health Fairview Hospitals & Clinics. We welcome long-term stays. The space Our historic home is uniquely located within the national, state, and city park systems on the only naturally occurring gorge of the Mississippi River. After 14-years successfully renting our apartment to university professors & musicians, we renovated it in 2019 for Airbnb stays. We are licensed w/ the city of Minneapolis & our house is up to code and well-maintained. Tenants & guests have described the apartment as a peaceful space to be productive and relax. Several books, dissertations and music compositions have been written in this apartment! If you want a place to entertain & host gatherings, you will not enjoy this space. If you want a quiet place to work, have a personal writing retreat, do some serious R&R, or have a private staycation you will enjoy it here. We have cozy throw blankets in the living room that are washed regularly and that guests love for afternoon naps! The space is most comfortable for 1 person, but can accommodate 2. It has a futon that converts into a bed in the living room. This is ideal if you're traveling with a colleague or friend and would each like your own sleeping arrangements. If you'd like more than 2 people to stay at any time, you must let us know BEFORE you book by sending us a message. Please note that the space is not set up for infants, toddlers, young children, or pets. The living room: has a futon that converts into a bed, a spacious closet (w/ cleaning supplies, iron & ironing board), a flat-screen TV w/ Roku TV, board games, puzzles, and coloring books. There is also an office nook with a regular size desk, height adjustable chair and bookshelf. The office area overlooks a park with lots of green space. The Mississippi River and paved W. River Road trails (for biking, walking, and running) are located right below the park. Lots of natural sunlight flood this room - it is lovely! The small, eat-in kitchen (with a window) is fully stocked with dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, cookware, glasses, coffee, and tea. It also has a toaster, microwave, various coffee makers, dishwasher, garbage disposal, small stove, and a full size fridge. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed (purchased new in 2020) with a goose down comforter. There is also a full-length sized mirror, luggage rack, drying rack, and a table for your toiletries, etc. The closet includes a hair dryer, extra towels & sheets, hangers, and storage for clothes. The bathroom has a sparkling clean tub and shower, soft cotton towels, and a large medicine cabinet. We provide some toiletries, but encourage you to bring your own. Each room has fast Wi-Fi and central air conditioning in the summer months. We provide a convenient self check-in and 24 hour access in the front or back doors of our house. There is one complimentary parking space in back and parking across the street is always free. The parking space is a typical size for an urban lot. If you are not used to city lots, it may seem small to you, but it is actually generous in size for a South Minneapolis residence. The laundry is available for guests staying with us 10+ days. There are no hidden cleaning fees when you stay with us. Whether you stay for 2 nights or 2 months, the cleaning fee is the same. My family and I do all the cleaning and maintenance. My partner enjoys deep cleaning and the Airbnb is always spotless before each stay. In addition, we launder everything between stays - including decorative pillow cases and throw blankets! Although the Airbnb is on the second floor of my home, it is likely you will never see me and my family. However, if you'd like to meet me, I am happy to do so! Guest access Your own private, 2nd-floor apartment and entrance. You do not share any of the Airbnb with us. Our family lives on the first floor with our own private entry (i.e. you do not walk through our space to get to the Airbnb - you have your own private entry, too). We have 1 anti-social cat and 1 friendly dog. They do not have access to the 2nd floor but our cat sometimes roams the hallways. Our basement laundry is not set up for Airbnb use unless you are with us for a long-term stay. Other things to note We are often flexible with check-in and check-out times.
