We are located in Foxwood Hills Resort with a seasonal, Olympic outdoor salt water pool, playground, pickleball/basketball, restaurant/bar, boat ramp on Lake Hartwell. We host fire pit nights too. Next to our cottage is our carriage house guest retreat called Our Nest, we are located in the middle of a peninsula on the SC side of Lake Hartwell. Nature surrounds our serene cottage and this beautiful retreat. We built Vindstille Cottage in 2006 as our personal vacation home and moved permanently here in 2016. In 2019 we completed the addition of this 900 square foot retreat for guests above our detached garage so we could continue to have guests come and stay and take time to rest and relax away from the hurried life. We have had some long term stays which may take it off the market for a little while. But as soon as it’s available, we put it back on the market for travelers. Vindstille is a Norwegian word for calm or calm wind. This place brings a sense of calm and restfulness or hygge, a Scandinavian word for comfort/cozy and a place to retreat and relax. Our retreat encourages low media time and more quiet relaxing. It is also in the resort community of Foxwood Hills, making fun activities easy to find. Many residents are retired and enjoy the slow pace this area provides. The resort amenities available to guests include a playground, tennis/pickleball/basketball court, a seasonal Olympic size salt water outdoor pool. Pool guests will need prior authorization and host’s pool pass. The restaurant and bar are available for guests. Summer is full of fun at our resort pool with a poolside restaurant for lunch and community activities for holidays. Lake Hartwell is right near by for lazy lake days. At Vindstille Cottage we have an array of fun, seasonal activities. A fire pit is on the cottage grounds and guests can reserve a Fire Pit Nite and menu options ranging from weenie roast, S’more fun or a meal with all the above with our Cottage Chili & chips. Cozy cottage cocoa will be a new fall/winter menu item. Our Fire Pit Nites have become very popular. Also ask about our adult guest Porch Sittin & Sippin nights! Can you tell we love some fun? Payments for these add ons can be easily made through Airbnb! Our retreat is tastefully decorated for each season, fall & football, Christmas and summertime. A great place to celebrate the seasons and holidays, football games, apple picking, hikes and waterfalls, mountain towns, wedding weekends, fishing tournaments or a relaxing vacation week or weekend. Other things to note The lake and the surrounding rural area can cause WiFi and cell phones to not have as strong of signals. However, we have upgraded our WiFi to the fastest fiber optic service we could find to make sure you have good WiFi access.
