SUMMER TUBING!!! So much fun. This property is conveniently located 5 miles from the Toccoa River tubing companies. Just a short drive through the forest and you are there! Rent a tube, and they will shuttle you to the drop in. It's kid friendly (mellow), and so beautiful. Please read "House rules" before booking. We ARE NOT strict hosts, but the rules are important (especially when it comes to fires).... This is a remote location on a mountain, so any negligence or irresponsibility with the fire pit, fireworks, or smoking could be extremely devastating to the all surrounding forestry. Other than a garden hose and fire extinguishers, there is absolutely no way to put out a fire should one get out of hand. Smokey the Bear says: "ONLY YOU can prevent forest fires." You will have complete & private access to the entire property during your stay. MOUNTAIN TERRAIN / PLEASE NOTE: The last mile or so to the cabin is bumpy gravel, some on an incline. You will be driving up a mountain to get to the cabin. NOT RECOMMENDED: Small lightweight 4 cylinder vehicles & low clearance vehicles. 4 Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive is not a necessity, but will make your overall experience in the mountains much easier and more fun. *** For advanced off-roaders: The Cohutta Wilderness is 37,000 acres of wilderness to explore and just west of Cherry Log / Blue Ridge. *** PLEASE NOTE: ARRIVAL AFTER DARK HAS PROVEN TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR MOST GUESTS. A large percentage of guests who arrive at night get lost, or get stuck, or both. PLEASE.....If possible, try to arrive during daylight. If you absolutely must arrive at night, please let me know in advance so the deck lights can be turned on (flood lights & Christmas lights). WINTER BOOKINGS: If inclement weather consisting of heavy snow or ice is in the forecast during your stay, your reservation will be cancelled with a full refund. The mountain terrain is most definitely a dangerous liability during snow and ice. Also, the cabin IS NOT equipped with a back up generator if a power outage takes place during a snow / ice storm. Other things to note Please note: The cabin is in a rugged and private mountainous setting… fairly remote. The cabin is not handicap accessible. A spiral staircase leads to the bedrooms. The water here is awesome... pure mountain spring water from a 400 ft. well (filtered twice). No need to bring bottled water. There is no tub, only a shower. Smoke detectors, fire extingusher, and first aid kit provided. There is no indoor fireplace, but two outdoor firepits. There is plenty of outdoor lighting, but bring a flashlight. No Carbon Monoxide detectors because the cabin is all electric (no gas lines at all). *** THE MOUNTAIN ROAD LEADING TO THE CABIN IS STEEP. Smaller vehicles with no weight, 4 cylinder engines, and front wheel drive are difficult to maneuver up the hill, however there is a parking area at the bottom of the driveway. Upon booking, you will receive a video showing the drive up to the cabin and the incline.....(a link can also be provided prior to booking).
