Description

IMPORTANT: Enjoy your cosy lake edge cottage , surrounded by native bush and bird life. This prime waterfront position is just 5 minutes walk from the famous Okere Falls Cafe, white water rafting and Okere Falls Track and zipline Ideally located for exploring nearby Rotorua by car. Car parking is available off road for up to 3 cars. Quality beds and linen ensure a dreamy nights sleep. 2 Kayaks enable exploring the inlet paddling past native bush. The space On a secluded inlet on the lake, making it a safe choice for families wanting to tie up their boat to the jetty. If you dont have a boat you can swim off the jetty, or paddle about on our two kayaks. We enjoy the antics of our native birdlife and even have endangered birds nest at the bottom of the garden. We love the morning coffee and muffins at our local cafe, and will often return in the evening for a beer with nachos or a bratwurst sausage! They have excellent vegetarian options as well! Just 15 mins by car from Rotorua - this is an ideal base for exploring the Redwoods, geothermal and cultural activity or even shopping. We strongly recommend a minimum of 3 nights as there is much to do in the area. Don't forget to bring your mountain bikes to explore the multitude of tracks at all levels in the Redwoods.. We also want you to enjoy the unique setting. It is a picturesque spot. Take the kayaks and paddle around the inlet to observe the antics of the Weweia and enjoy an uncomplicated day with refreshing swimming and bush walks, doing as little or as much as takes your fancy. For those who want to spice life up, we are only a 5 minute walk from the world famous white water rafting on the Kaituna. If you dont want to get your feet wet you can zipline above the Kaituna River for a birdseye view of Tutuea Falls. These activities are on your doorstep! You can walk to the viewing platforms and watch the rafters in action, or sign up and go over the highest commercially rafted falls in the world yourself! Adrenilin pumped ! Off road parking is provided, and can fit up to 3 cars making house access very easy. Further afield you can explore Hobbiton, or the famous Mount beach, or Taupo easily in a day. Call ahead if you are bringing a boat, as Alec has special tips on parking a trailer which can help. There is an area to store mountain bikes and lock them up. We offer free wifi. The fireplace is safe to use, however we do not supply wood. The heat pump works quickly and efficiently but romantic souls who may want to enjoy a wood fire need to bring their own wood, or you can buy bags of wood when in Rotorua (woolworths supermarket sells boxes or bags of firewood) It is a 2 storied building with all the living upstairs- including your bedroom. We want you to feel as if this is your home away from home! Guest access Note: The Gardner visits the property on Fridays but may vary with weather conditions. You have a well equipped kitchen with a UV & filtered system for tank water On our generous sized deck there is also a weber BBQ. The lounge provides leather seating & snuggle rugs and cushions for cooler evenings. The upstairs bathroom has a shower, underfloor heating, and heated towel rails. The DOWNSTAIRS bathroom is in the laundry is accessible by using the outside stairs and also has a toilet, shower within the laundry area (washing machine and dryer.) It has heated towel rails, but no underfloor heating. There is a “Bach” clothesline in the back yard, or a clotheshorse that you can use if you prefer. There is nothing worse than being too cold or too hot, so to make it just right we have installed heat pumps for either cooling or heating. There is a timer switch mounted on the wall and is super easy to use. To cosy it up in the winter months you may prefer the log fire.. NOTE You may need to bring your own wood. The bed linen is commercially laundered. The bedroom had water views, so allow nature to inspire you as the birds sing you into your day, along with the hum of distant traffic... we love that about a holiday! You will have access to 2 kayaks. There is both seating and a small table at the lake edge to enjoy a wine & cheese while watching the world go by from your nature haven. Other things to note Location notes: The property is in a private location looking out over the water. Beyond the waterview you do see a small portion of the road into and out of Rotorua and so at different times you may hear road noise. (more so with a westerly wind and particularly if you are outside. We do have a log fire burner , we are happy for you to use but we don’t provide firewood. The property has an efficient heat pump , heated floors in main bathroom and heated towel rails . The fireplace adds ambience but is not necessary for heating. There is a spa on the property but this is NOT AVAILABLE and is kept locked for safety reasons. You have direct access to lake so young children should be supervised at all times. Use of kayaks must be in agreement with water safety council guidelines This is our family bach - a place to unwind and make happy memories. It is NOT A HOTEL, but our holiday home. It’s our place to relax, unwind and create memories. We look forward to sharing this magical spot with you and hope you make many happy memories too! We are surrounded by bush, so expect nature! The laundry does get leaves blowing in under the door, this does not mean that the room has not been cleaned. Moths & Insects will fly in open windows at night attracted by light. We do not have mosquitoes issues at the lake and the midges we do get at home do not bite and are a favorite food of the fantails.
