Description
I am a PhD Candidate renting out my furnished office/guest room. The apt is a 5 min walk off the F train’s Ditmas stop in Kensington, Brooklyn (a 10 minute walk to Ditmas Park; 3 short subway stops from Prospect Park; about a 45 minute commute to Manhattan). Be advised that I do not live in a “hip” area of Brooklyn. My neighborhood has not been gentrified and there are not a ton of amenities. If you walk about 10 minutes to Ditmas Park, however, you will find bars, cafes, restaurants. The space Please note: you will have access to the entire apt., except for the master bedroom, where I will be staying. Be advised that the room does not lock. Also note that the room currently looks a little different from the photos: there is a new (and in my opinion, nicer) desk and instead of the sleeper-sofa, there is a queen mattress on the floor that sleeps two. (I'm hoping to update the photos soon.) Guest access Guests will have their own private room but are welcome to use the living room and kitchen, which they will be sharing with me. During your stay Sometimes I work from home and sometimes I work in the city, so you can expect to see me semi-regularly. I respect guests' need for private space but am available if they need anything. Other things to note • The building is old, and the entrance way shows its age. The foyer and laundry room are maintained by the landlord and, unfortunately, I have no control over their appearance. • The room that is for rent faces a back alley and a parking garage. This doesn’t bother me, however, some guests may prefer a more scenic view so I want to be upfront. • The guest room contains a double mattress on the floor (no bed frame). • The apartment faces a very busy street, so sometimes there is noise from traffic and people on the street (but the room for rent faces the rear of the apartment). • Finally, it is important for guests to understand that we do not live in a “hip” area of Brooklyn. Our neighborhood has not been gentrified. Between our apartment and the subway there are some bodegas, but not a ton of amenities otherwise. If you’re looking to stay in a part of Brooklyn that is comparable to Williamsburg, our home is probably not the place for you. However, if you want an affordable and authentic Brooklyn experience, you’d probably be a good fit!
