Orange Country House

The space Orange Country House is only 8 km away from Platanias Beach. Platanias is a very famous area for the plethora of options in bars, restaurants, cafes..which are all by the sea! The raised olive tree in Vatolakko, Chania, is 2 km away. This olive tree is the only surviving one of the many raised that once surrounded the village. It has been declared by the Association of Olive Municipalities of Crete as Monumental, due to its relationship with local religious traditions, but also due to the particularity of the relief of the trunk and its old age, which is estimated based on the current dimensions of the trunk in 2000 years. Other important and easily accessible attractions/landmarks are the Gorge of Samaria and the very beautiful Lake of Agia. A must for visitors to Crete is to complete the walk down the gorge from the Omalos plateau to Agia Roumeli on the Libyan Sea, at which point tourists sail to the nearby village of Sougia or Hora Sfakion, where they could spend a night there.
