Walking distance to all shops, restaurants & local coffee. Only 0.3 miles from the beach! Two private outdoor patio & deck areas and amazing second-story views of Downtown. The perfect set-up to accommodate large groups, multiple/single families, or couple(s)! Beach towels, games, & insta worthy photo spots included. The space The Hen House is THE place to stay when you visit Lexington. Updated and designed to make you feel like you’re living the aesthetic lake-town getaway of your dreams. LOCATION Walking distance to all of the hottest spots in Lexington year-round and only 0.3 miles from the beach! Our unbeatable Downtown location allows you front-row views of the Christmas, Memorial Day & 4th of July festivities. Watch them parade down Main St. right from the comfort of the living room or front patio! Guests can even view the 4th of July fireworks from the same locations with minimal blockage! LIVING ROOM The living room includes satellite TV, wifi, & free Netflix streaming. The couch converts into a queen-size sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. Bedding is kept fresh in the hallway linen closet, along with baskets of games for all ages! Ping pong, foosball, and chess tables are available for your entertainment. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GAS FIREPLACE IN THE LIVING ROOM IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FOR GUEST USE. KITCHEN The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay including pots/pans, baking sheets, baking dish, toaster, Crockpot, blender, Keurig duo, tea kettle, wine glasses, coffee mugs, & more. A baby high chair is also available for your use! We provide guests with a basic K-pod, sugar, and single serve creamer selection to get you started on your trip. *NEW dishwasher*. Trash bags, dishwasher tablets, paper towel, and basic cleaning supplies are provided on a starter basis. Please note: two of the kitchen outlets on the west wall DO NOT WORK, the water/ice making system on the refrigerator is also OUT OF SERVICE. Ice trays are readily available for your use. MASTER BEDROOM/NURSERY NOOK The spacious master bedroom includes a memory foam king-size mattress and the best views of downtown shops. Free Netflix streaming is available on the in-room TV. A small nursery nook is attached to the master bedroom including a crib, children’s books, sound machine, and sound monitors to help the littlest vacationers rest easy. The master bedroom also includes its own private bathroom including separate shower/toilet & vanity areas. Starter supplies for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, tissues, & toilet paper are included. There is only one functioning outlet available in the master bathroom, located on the outlet panel near the toilet. BUNK ROOM/THIRD BEDROOM The bunk room boasts two twin-over-full bunks & will sleep 6 children or 4 adults comfortably. The third private bedroom includes a king-size memory foam mattress with free Netflix streaming on the in-room TV. A few extra cozy blankets are stored in each bedroom closet for your use. FULL BATHROOM The second full-size bathroom includes a double vanity & a bathtub/shower with jet functions. Starter supplies for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, tissues, & toilet paper are included. There is only one functioning outlet available in this bathroom located on the lower south-facing wall. LAUNDRY ROOM Full-size private washer & dryer are available in the apartment to help guests pack light + stay long! We will provide you with a starter supply of laundry pods & dryer sheets for your stay. Iron/ironing board are also available. BACK DECK Our large private back deck space is perfect for grilling & eating dinner outdoors or relaxing at night with a cold local brew. There is a propane grill available for use. If you need to fill the tank at all during your stay, there is a BP gas station right across the road, they can help take care of you there! FRONT PATIO The quaint front patio provides the perfect atmosphere to sip a local coffee and take in the morning views of Downtown Lexington. Watch the sky change from a bright orange to blue or walk the 0.3 miles down to the beach to catch the sunrise over Lake Huron in person! Relax by the *NEW* propane fire pit at night while overlooking Main St! THINGS TO NOTE Please be respectful of the businesses downstairs & ensure that your noise levels are appropriate. You may hear some noise from the businesses below, music playing from the township speakers located on the light posts outside of the apartment, or noise from the traffic on Main St. The Hen House is an upper-level apartment. You will have to climb a long flight of outdoor stairs to access it, so don't worry about all of those extra ice cream cones you'll be eating! There are also many windows in the apartment which allow for amazing views & natural light. This sunlight can at times, cause temperatures to rise in some areas. We have security cameras placed in our private parking area for the safety of our guests and businesses. WE ARE LOCATED DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SIREN. THERE IS A SIREN EVERY DAY @ 12PM & 6PM + ANY ADDITIONAL FIRE CALLS/TORNADO WARNINGS. THE SIREN IS EXTREMELY LOUD AND MAY STARTLE YOU OR BE UNCOMFORTABLE TO YOUR EARS. THE SOUND IS MORE INTENSE WHEN OUTSIDE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO HEAR THIS! Guest access You will have access to a private parking area at the building for up to (3) vehicles. This area can be tight to navigate. Additional parking is available in the public parking lot with connecting back access to the building through a small walkway. Please be cautious of pedestrians when entering/exiting the private lot. Entry to the apartment will be granted via a customized code to use with our Yale Nest smart lock. Codes are unique to each guest so that privacy & safety are never a concern during your stay. Guests will have access to the entire apartment + a private front patio and back deck area. An area of the back deck is walled off for the private use of our back apartment. To respect the privacy & safety of our other guests, please do not attempt to access this area. PLEASE NOTE: The only entry to this second-story apartment includes walking a tall flight of outdoor stairs. Other things to note The Hen House building has been in my family since the 1980’s. My grandparents purchased the one story building and added on the entire second floor living quarters. They were both self-made entrepreneurs and ran their businesses out of the commercial units downstairs. My Nana owned Curio Cabinet Collectables, a high-end collectable shop, and my Poppie operated his insurance company, Tait Insurance. My husband & I purchased the building from my grandparents on January 1, 2022 in pursuit of our own entrepreneurial dreams. We have poured a lot of time & love into both levels in order to update and introduce new thriving businesses into our hometown community. These apartments hold special childhood memories for me in every nook and cranny! Christmas mornings, sleepovers with our favorite VHS movies, drinking tea with my Nana, playing store downstairs with my cousins, & visiting The General Store with my Poppie. My hope is that when you visit The Hen House, you not only remember the visual appeal but the EXPERIENCE. Memories that you’ll cherish forever with family & friends.
