Description
1870 Victorian Italianate Mansion in the historic district close to downtown, the river and fairgrounds. Beautiful park-like fenced yard that's perfect to enjoy under shade trees after a long day of fishing or hunting. Great for a couple's retreat or bring the entire family for special gatherings. One master bedroom upstairs and one on main floor. Fully equipped kitchen, library, mud and laundry room. Special extended stay rates as well as monthly and weekly. Smoke free property. The space The home is still original with a few minor changes to meet modern times. The floors and kitchen cabinets are original with a mix of some updated features. We understand that the house was the first in the area to have electricity. We aren't sure when the central air conditioning was added but grateful it was!! The ceilings are high both upstairs and downstairs. There are several period furniture pieces throughout the house plus a library off the dining room with a printer, plenty of books and games. A fun feature is the original railing along the stairwell that curves to the upstairs. An intimate TV/sitting room is available and perfect for the upstairs guests. The house sits on two parcels of land providing a very large area of grass and mature shade trees. There are two distinct sitting areas, one with a fire pit so you can enjoy your S'mores and late nights under the stars. The yard is fenced for privacy and to allow your dogs the freedom to run around. All five bedrooms are oversized with large closets and plenty of windows that provide great lighting. It's a quiet and quaint home. We hope you enjoy your stay in our home. Guest access The entire property is accessible. Other things to note We do want you to bring your dogs and let them enjoy the yard. We ask that the dogs sleep in the mud room and not go upstairs or onto any area where there is carpet. Unfortunately we cannot have cats at the property due to severe allergies. The neighborhood is historic so we ask our guests to be quiet by 10:00 pm every evening ( you can still enjoy the fire pit but you will need to keep the noise down). The character of the slightly sloped floors with a squeak here and there only enhances the grand time you and your family will have in this beloved old historic home. Six blocks from a giant public swim park with slides and childrens play pool- open from Memorial Day to Labor Day...Don't forget your swimming suits!! Visit the interior of the Sutter Buttes with Middle Mountain Interpretive hikes. Find their seasonal schedule on the internet.
