A romantic, private and fully-equipped four-season yurt, located on a peaceful six-acre farm with amazing views of nature. ☽ Featured in many lovely publications, including Forbes Mag. ☽ Elevated, design; thoughtful lighting; deeply romantic ☽ A beautiful, Vermont-y drive to Stratton, Okemo, Mt. Snow, Magic & Bromley ☽ Local's Area Guide with all the special things ☽ Full kitchen, firepit, woodstove ☽ Fast wifi ☽ Scrupulously clean using unscented products ☽ Outdoor shower Pro tip: To hear what other guests have said about things that are important to you (key words like "clean", "bed", "privacy" , "outhouse", "woodstove" etc.), just scroll down to the "Show all reviews" button and click on it - a search bar will pop up and you can search using key words to read unbiased reflections from past guests! === You can expect to restore and recharge in a harmonious and thoughtfully appointed yurt set on a private knoll overlooking beautiful fields and woods. Everything here has been chosen with care and love. There are comfortable chairs, a lovely woodstove, and beautiful light throughout. A firepit awaits outdoors under the stars (ask about our Tuscan Grill if you would like to cook your supper over the open fire!). The deck is a great spot to listen to the birds, have a drink, read your book, and just be. Everything you need to make lovely meals is in the simple but thoughtfully crafted kitchen. The mattress is organic wool and we pride ourselves on our comfortable and well-made beds, with lovely linens and two kinds of pillows. The composting outhouse is ten steps from the door and connected to the deck. It is scrupulously clean and nicer than you might expect (please see pro tip above to read reviews from other guests!). The yurt is very private, and at the same time, you will get a sense of the abundant beauty of homesteading life in Vermont with gardens, medicine plants, abundant vegetables, pastures, fields and woods just outside your door (all changing with the seasons of course). We have a very special and extensive Local's Area Guide we will share with you that lists all our favorite places to go in southern Vermont. Please know that the yurt is best suited for folks who are comfortable walking 300 feet or so from your parking spot, and that seating inside and outside the yurt is very low and oriented to the low profile of the space. The yurt, firepit and deck are all yours and very private. Very private, but here if you need us. Miles to: Putney School - 2 Greenwood School - 1.5 Landmark College - 1.8 Putney village - 1 Brattleboro - 7 Woodstock - 57 Manchester - 47 Mt. Snow - 25 Okemo - 43 Stratton - 39 Magic Mountain (local's spot!) - 41 Bromley - 41 Prospect (amazing xc skiing) - 42 Killington - 63 We have an extensive and carefully curated guide book for all kinds of things to do and see in our area, including awesome hikes, skis, restaurants, swimming holes, canoe or kayaking excursions, pick your own farms, cider donuts and hot apple cider stops, winter ice skating ponds, full moon forest explorations and on and on. We can direct you to rental equipment, and are near the famed and wonderful West Hill Bike Shop, which has everything bike, ski and snow that you might want. The small village of Putney offers a sublime farm-to-table restaurant, a dreamy pick your own orchard, the oldest general store in the state, a bookstore with great pour-over, and a community co-op with excellent local products. Within 30 minutes you’ll find several villages that will give you that storybook Vermont hit, with great places to eat and explore. Our seemingly tiny town offers a remarkable amount array of cultural choices, including the famed Next Stage with all manner of arts and music events, the renowned Yellow Barn for classical in the summer, Sandglass Theater for puppetry. There is an old fashioned community supper the first Friday of every month, and you are welcome to come (and you should). Vermont winters include periods of ice and snow. Well-maintained dirt roads are the norm, and our house is on one, albeit one that is plowed, graded and relatively flat. Most folks drive "regular" cars, albeit with winter tires in case it is snowing or slippery. Most of the time roads are easy and clear, but if there is a storm, you will want to be driving a car that feels comfortable to you for winter driving. Please understand that we aren’t responsible for travel difficulties due to things beyond our control such as weather. If driving in winter weather concerns you, please consider trip insurance. ☽ This is a retreat in a quiet rural setting with lots of privacy ☽ There is good WiFi, but no TV ☽ Most cell carriers work well, although T-Mobile is known to be iffy === DOGGOS! When you book, please confirm these rules are a fit for you, and be sure your reservation includes your pup! > One dog maximum (we are firm on this!) > Your pup is at least one year old and FULLY potty trained > He or she gets along with other dogs - we have two friendly, playful dogs here > Dog stays off all furniture - this is important to us and to our future guests; please note that we charge a minimum additional $250 cleaning fee if this rule is broken > Please bring bags and pick up waste > Pup stays with you when you go out and is not left alone in the space COLD SEASON VISITORS In your reservation request, please acknowledge you have read and understood the three important points below We are usually fully-booked in the winter, and that is because the yurt is a wonderful and cozy place to be in the cold season. That said, there are some unique aspects to yurting in winter that you should review and feel good about: 1. Making fire in a wood stove is a lovely thing, AND, you must do it well in order to stay warm. If you have never worked with a wood stove before, plan on reading the detailed instructions we have left you. We would also highly recommend you come before dark rather than late at night. 2. There is a lovely outdoor shower outside the yurt, usable even in winter (if you're hardy!) with a quick lesson from us. You can let us know when you are here if you would like us to show you. If it is very, very cold (2/3 times a year, depending on the year), we may not be able to offer this as an option in order to protect the plumbing. There is always hot and cold running water in the sink inside, with good soap and towels. 3. The yurt is about 150 feet (a 3 minute flat walk) from your parking spot. That said, it's an easy walk, and we provide a big sled to transport your things. WHAT TO BRING We provide all bedding, linens, pillows and towels for the shower, as well as a simply stocked kitchen with all the basic cooking supplies you need to cook a good meal, and olive oil, salt and pepper. There is a coffee bean grinder, a French press and a pour-over carafe with filters. We encourage you to bring shampoo and hair products (we provide shower gel), beach towels if you will be swimming in the summer, slippers and cozy layers for the cold months (the woodstove works beautifully however), and yummy foods and drinks (including coffee, which we don't provide). SUMMER VISITORS We have lots of suggestions in our area guide for great hikes, swimming holes, paddling spots, and the best creemee stands. The yurt has a fan, the dome at the top has a special curtain, and also opens. There is a minisplit with AC that we invite you to run on hot days for a few hours if some cooling off is needed. Our guests are generally happy and comfortable (see our reviews)! TO KNOW ABOUT US Two friendly dogs live on the farm, but are behind an invisible fence so cannot accompany you all the way to the yurt. We pride ourselves on paying our hospitality crew a living wage. STAY CONNECTED Add us to your Wish List (heart/save in upper right corner!)
