For ten years we have welcomed travelers from all over the world to our cozy and unique farm house and we would love to host you, come as you are. If you can, please read all information provided in this listing. This is a private country house on 120 acres of woods and fields, cut in with trails, in Wisconsin's Driftless Region. Located 30 min to Devil's lake, 45 to Wisconsin Dells and only 25 Minutes to downtown Madison. Events or a party, Common Gardens for more details, we love events. The house and grounds you are renting are eclectically decorated, well maintained and well stocked. In the kitchen you'll find coffee, tea, hot chocolate, spices, cooking oils, baking supplies, frozen pizzas, s'more makings, beer, wine and fresh eggs, as well as the means in which to prepare them and more, ask if you have any special requests. The beds are tempur-pedic with high quality linens, the bathrooms are stocked with towels and extra things you might have forgotten. These are all for you and your company. There is a porch for the warm months, indoor wood stove for the cold ones, with fire wood. Its also heated with propane and cooled with A/C. Board games line a wall and books another, the two smart TVs are pre-loaded with Netflix, Hulu, Hbo, and Disney plus. Nothing wrong with a nice movie on a rainy day or after a long hike, there's popcorn in the kitchen. Outside the grounds are lit by string lights, you'll find a charcoal grill with all the tools and supplies needed to get it cooking. Near by is your private bon fire pit, with firewood. For safety and health we use natural based cleaners, dye and fragrance free detergents. We have installed; CO2, radon and smoke detectors throughout the home as well as air-purifiers. First aid-kit, flashlights, lantern, weather radio and battery charged night lights for storms. Also feel free to do laundry in the basement, its free. Please, please, - Be loud, be merry, have fun, sleep in, relax, explore! We leave the house unlocked, just walk in whenever you arrive, you'll receive a door code for the electronic lock. Beyond the firepit, the farm has a lot of neat things to see, the chickens, the barn, the trails, Feel free to walk around and explore, there are five members of our staff, all very friendly and kind, please engage them but they will leave you alone unless you want to chat, staff quarters will be marked with signs. For a hike, head to near by Indian Lake State park, they have 650 acres of trails and a dog park. For a swim, Salmo pond. Individuals can choose their level of interaction, residents work on the farm daily and have different projects and people over, but the house is private and people can be left alone if they so choose. I live in tiny house east of the farm house. The pastoral scenery of the Driftless and access to near by parks is a big draw. If you are looking for a nice day trip, Madison, The Dells, and Spring Green are quite popular. Here are some usual spots people visit; Indian Lake state park and the Ice trail are within a short drive (2 min). Wollersheim Winery and boat rentals on the Wisconsin river in Sauk City, Devil's lake, lake Wisconsin, House on the Rock, Taliesin, Cave of the Mounds and Tyrol Basin. Enjoy the vibrancy of Wisconsin's capitol, the Saturday farmer's market on the capitol square (allegedly biggest in the country) is a must see, arrive early because it gets crowded. Check the Guide book for my favorite restaurants, bars, sights and services in the area. Vintage in Sauk City is a classy delicious place. Cars are highly recommended, although there is a bike path to Madison close by, it would be an hour and half + ride. In years previous, we were a working farm that produced large amounts of firewood, produce, eggs ect. We have since moved more to weddings and rentals. We ask 15$/day per pet, please don’t let your dogs eat our chickens, if you need to add a pet, just send an alteration on your reservation, we would love to host your furry friends.
