Surrounded by traditional Cotswold stone architecture, guests can enjoy scenic country walks directly from the doorstep. Located just one mile from the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, the cottage serves as the perfect central base for your Cotswolds adventures. Dating back to approximately 1595, the cottage has undergone an extensive and now offers the traditional features of log burners, beams and stone mullion windows married with a contemporary kitchen and newly fitted bathrooms. The property now boasts 4 bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms and 2 reception rooms, it comfortably sleeps 8. The cottage is newly furnished throughout with high quality fixtures and fittings offering a modern and contemporary twist that complement a wealth of period features including log burning stoves in the sitting room and the entrance nook, beams throughout and a magnificent vaulted ceiling with exposed beams in the master bedroom. There is a good size private garden with a paved patio area and a small lawn on the upper level that looks out over the stone wall to open countryside beyond. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a delicious welcome hamper featuring locally sourced wine from the renowned Poulton Hill Vineyard and artisanal Cotswold fudge. Step inside to a charming entrance nook, complete with traditional wood flooring and a cozy log-burning stove nestled into the chimney recess. Furnished with two comfortable armchairs, it is an idyllic corner to curl up with a book or unwind with your favourite drink by the fire. Leading off the entrance nook, the inviting sitting room overlooks the front of the property through a gorgeous stone mullion window. Designed for ultimate relaxation, it features a traditional stone fireplace with a second log-burning stove, a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table, and a flat-screen TV with a DVD player. Positioned at the rear of the cottage, this stylish open-plan space is tailor-made for entertaining. Dramatic bi-folding doors seamlessly connect the indoors to the garden during the spring and summer months. The Kitchen is fully equipped with premium solid wood cabinets, sleek stone worktops, and a large range cooker with a six-burner electric hob and dual ovens. Modern conveniences include a coffee machine, dishwasher, two fridges, a freezer, a microwave, and a complete set of high-quality cookware and utensils. The dining area features a large dining table with built-in wooden bench seating on two sides and four chairs, comfortably hosting up to eight guests. A wall-mounted flat-screen TV completes this vibrant space. The main family bathroom can also be located on the ground floor, it features a contemporary white suite set against a sleek slate floor, complete with a bath and overhead shower, toilet, sink, and discrete storage. Please note that the stairs are quite steep, in keeping with the authentic heritage of the property. If any guests in your party have restricted mobility, please do enquire before booking to ensure the layout is suitable. All four bedrooms are designed for a restful night's sleep, prepared with hotel-quality crisp cotton sheets, fluffy towels for each guest, and complimentary toiletries. The master bedroom is a spectacular retreat featuring a luxurious king-size four-poster bed and built-in wardrobes. It boasts a magnificent vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and a traditional stone mullion window overlooking the open countryside to the front. Bedroom 2 is a cozy double bedroom equipped with traditional-style hooks for clothes hangers. The twin room features a built-in wardrobe, offering peaceful views over the rear garden and open countryside. Lastly bedroom 4 features twin beds including a clever pull-out trundle bed that can be neatly tucked away if not required—plus a built-in wardrobe with lovely rear garden and countryside views. To the front of the property is a small, pretty cottage garden bordered by a traditional Cotswold stone wall. To the rear there are 7 steps from the bi-folding doors in the kitchen leading up to paved patio with a dining set for 6 people. During the summer months a gas barbecue is available. Stepping up two steps from the patio there is a small lawned area with a Cotswold stone wall to the rear overlooking open countryside. Parking is located directly opposite the house to the front in parking bays that are shared with neighbouring properties. Parking is unallocated so it is on a first come, first served basis. Please note that parking is on the other side of the road to the property so please do take care when crossing the road. Free Wifi/internet access is provided. The property generally receives a good signal and has a good mobile reception but please be aware that signal coverage may vary depending upon which mobile network you are with. The property is heated throughout with oil fuelled central heating. There are log burning stoves in the sitting room and entrance nook for which one basket of logs is provided per stay. Additional logs can be purchased but please ask in advance to ensure they are there in time for your stay. Pets: we regret that there is a strict no pets policy at this property. There is a strict no smoking or vaping policy throughout the property. Children’s Equipment: a high chair and cot are provided but please note that we do not supply bedding for the cot so guests should make provision and pack their own. Smoke/CO detectors: there are smoke/heat detectors located throughout the property and a CO detector in the sitting room. These operate on a sound only basis and those of hard of hearing should be aware that they may not hear them without their necessary personal hearing device Check in time is from 3pm but we will try to let you get into the cottage sooner, if requested. It just depends if we have guests staying the night before. Please try to give as much notice as possible with your arrival time and update on the day with any changes / delays.
