A caretaker lives on the estate in a converted barn and is available to assist visitors with restaurant booking and advice on local amenities. This private estate is a peaceful spot set amidst chestnut woods with views of surrounding vineyards and meadows. It offers peace and quiet, yet is situated only a few minutes drive away from the amenities and traditional shops of the historic town of Licciana Nardi and the quaint village restaurants and wonderful hillside walks that abound in the foothills of the Apennine mountains. The railway station at Aulla and the motorway that connects La Spezia on the coast to Parma in the north is only twenty minutes drive away. The famous Cinque Terra, the sea side resorts of Lerici and Porto Venere and the historic city of Lucca are all within easy reach. There is outdoor furniture around the pool and on the terrace, which is perfect for just relaxing enjoying the views or for al fresco dining. Badminton, table football and table tennis are available upon request. I'm afraid the house is unavailable for guests under the age of 23 years. Please note infinity pool has a long drop on one side and is not fenced so it is the guests responsibility to watch children at all times. Guest access This superb and very spacious modern living space was converted from the original chestnut barn and has a high ceiling with traditional chestnut cross beams. The custom-designed kitchen includes marble work surfaces, a professional oven and a large American fridge/freezer. The dining table can easily accommodate twelve people. The comfortable sitting area is fitted with an open fireplace and Bose sound system. The house is sided by steep banks to streams, both in view, hence its name, and gives the sense of the prow of a ship. Doors lead from the living room to a small terrace for morning coffee and then down to a shaded terrace with large outside dining table, traditional pizza oven and stunning views over woodland and mountains without another dwelling in sight. Broad steps from the terrace lead to the lawn and a stunning infinity pool (10 x 5 meters) that appears to hover over the forest. This upper pool cascades down to a hidden half circle infinity plunge pool with a 10 foot radius. A wooden deck with soft outdoor sofas provides shaded seating whilst numerous sun loungers and recliners surround two sides of the pool. All give stunning views of the forests and hills. The combination of utter silence and highly oxygenated air from the surrounding woodland ensure a good night’s sleep and a restful stay. Other things to note The infinity pool is not fenced so young children must be supervised at all times. The pool is not heated. Although we'd rather not allow pets, under certain circumstances, we could consider them. Please respect the neighbours and keep the noise levels down at night.
