The space Chez Foucherie – Charming Countryside Retreat in the Charente Surrounded by sunflower fields and vineyards, Chez Foucherie is a beautifully restored Charentaise farmhouse offering peace, space and timeless French charm. Located just 5 minutes from local shops and cafés and close to Château de Lerse, it’s an ideal base for family holidays, gatherings with friends or wedding guests. The house sleeps up to 9 guests across 4 spacious bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (3 en-suite and one detached). Original fireplaces, stone walls and oak beams blend beautifully with thoughtfully curated interiors filled with antique and brocante pieces. The large kitchen with range cooker is fully equipped with plenty of cooking and baking equipment, perfect for preparing relaxed holiday meals to enjoy at the large dining table. The comfortable lounge offers a library of books for all ages and genres, DVDs and games, while the games room features snooker, table football, TV, popcorn machine, bean bags and toys and games for all ages. Outside, the tranquil gardens invite you to slow down and enjoy the countryside. The large private heated pool (10×5m) is surrounded by sun loungers, umbrellas and countryside views, with pool towels, inflatables and water games provided. Guests can also enjoy a great selection of outdoor games, fruit trees, BBQ evenings and pétanque in the courtyard. Families love the magical Fairies’ Meeting Corner and wishing trees, which light up at night. With lakes, vineyards, charming villages and the Atlantic coast within easy reach, Chez Foucherie offers a beautiful setting to relax, explore and enjoy the best of rural France. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the entire property, including the house, gardens and private swimming pool. The space is not shared with anyone else, allowing you to fully enjoy the peace and privacy of Chez Foucherie. The surrounding barns and outbuildings date back several hundred years and remain largely as they were when the property was a working farm until a few decades ago. While they add to the charm and history of the setting, they are not safe to enter and are therefore off limits to guests. We hope to renovate these beautiful buildings in the future, but for now we kindly ask that guests do not enter the barns or outbuildings for safety reasons. Other things to note Chez Foucherie is located in a peaceful countryside setting, and we kindly ask guests to respect the tranquillity of the area and our neighbours. Parties are not permitted, and we ask that noise is kept to a minimum during late evenings and early mornings. Only guests included in the reservation are permitted to stay at the property. Pets are not allowed. Our property manager, Aurélie, visits every few days to check and maintain the swimming pool, ensuring the water quality is perfect for your stay. During the summer months she may also come very early in the morning to water the garden. She is discreet and most guests hardly notice her visits. The beautiful Château de Lerse, a popular wedding venue, is only a 5-minute drive from the house. For everyday shopping and dining, the nearby towns of Blanzac-Porcheresse and Montmoreau offer bakeries, cafés, restaurants and small supermarkets. The larger town of Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire, about 20 minutes away, has bigger supermarkets and additional shops. Chez Foucherie is ideally located for exploring some of the region’s most charming destinations including Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, Angoulême, Cognac and Jonzac. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the nearby lakes of Brossac, local golf courses, and the Atlantic coast beaches, while the beautiful city of Bordeaux makes a wonderful day trip. You will find leaflets and guides in the kitchen with plenty of ideas for local activities, markets and places to visit during your stay.
