Description

Shangri La at Savannah - A beautifully preserved Victorian mansion built in 1895 just steps from Forsyth Park. Marble steps lead to the grand entry with original giant doorway. Heart of pine flooring in perfect condition throughout the home along with soaring ceilings will set the mood for a luxurious historic experience. SVR-1700 The space The main living area has a living room, dining room, bedroom with King size bed, full kitchen and full bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower combination. There is also a full size brand new washer/dryer on this main level, and a spacious back porch and shared patio area to enjoy the coastal weather. On the 2nd floor you will find another King size bed in bedroom 2, and two Queen beds in bedroom 3. We have a bonus room with a twin daybed and a 2nd spacious living room on this second floor along with another full bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower combination. While the property offers manicured comforts and Southern panache, the surrounding neighborhood, known as the Victorian district, affirms Savannah’s status as a premiere vacation destination. The Victorian District was home to famous Revolutionary war heroes and dignitaries, including Eli Whitney and Juliette Gordon Low, founder of The Girl Scouts of America. This quaint, pristine landscape is pedestrian friendly, with quick access to guided bus tours, horse-drawn carriage rides, and The Fragrant Garden for the Blind. The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) main campus is close by, as are numerous world-class, trending restaurants offering a plethora of dining options an easy walk or bike ride away. Guest access Guest may access all the rooms shown on the listing which are the 1st and 2nd floor of the home. Guests are NOT permitted to access the third floor attic or the small basement under the kitchen, DO NOT attempt to enter these areas there is nothing for guests in either location and access is not permitted. The 2nd floor has a private back porch overlooking the shared courtyard. The carriage house is a detached separate rental on the other side of the courtyard which shares the patio space with this main house. ***The attic of the main house is private and while not locked is roped off as inaccessible for guests and only for the owner.*** DO NOT attempt to enter the small basement area. Please share these rules with all members of your group. There is nothing for guests in the basement it is tiny and contains a few paint cans. You could hurt yourself trying to see inside it. You will be responsible for any damage related to your group attempting to access these areas that are not for guests. Other things to note I wanted to mention that Savannah has certain bugs which we can control to some extent with poison (which every hotel and vacation rental will use on perimeters) but guests still can see them, even if they’re slower and dying from walking across poison barriers. Specifically palmetto bugs are prolific here. If guests see one we do not issue any refunds due to seeing these. Events, holidays and stays during March & April may require 3 night minimums and/or have higher rates than the standard ones published. This is a traditional vacation rental home, not a “bed and breakfast”. We do not provide food or drinks but we do provide basic cooking and serving utensils, a coffee maker, and dish soap. Downtown Savannah has a major supermarket (Kroger) and a 24 hour market (Parkers on Drayton) so there is no need to pack everything from home if shopping when you get here makes more sense. What to bring with you: A typical grocery run prior to arriving at your vacation home would include coffee, beer/wine, milk, eggs, butter, bread and any other basic groceries you would need for the meals you eat in the home. This home has a duel K-cup and drip coffee maker. When it comes to coffee, bring your own ground coffee or k-cups. If you find coffee in the home please feel free to use it but we do not typically provide coffee. You should bring or buy your own napkins, laundry detergent, your own beach towels and beach gear, and your own cooler if you need one. What we provide: We provide toilet paper (2 extras per bathroom), liquid hand washing dish soap, bathroom soap, sheets on each bed, and at least one bath towel for each guest. We do not permit our towels to be taken out of the house which is why you must bring your own towels if you visit the beach. If you find we have left seasonings, oil, dishwasher pellets, or any unopened food or drinks then of course feel free to use what is there. We occasionally leave items but just cannot promise them all the time. Please also note that in Savannah, sugar ants can smell cookies, spilled sugar or syrup, or an open sugar container from a mile away and will find a way in through a windowsill or door frame. It can be somewhat like a cartoon picnic where they march in a line to find the food. To avoid this try to keep your snacks contained in air tight baggies, the refrigerator, or buy single serve packets and put the trash in the outdoor trash cans as soon as possible. The following is standard Savannah Luxury Rentals information: We provide sheets, toilet paper and soap.
