Description

The Antico Mulino di Sant'Angelo in Cortona is an ancient building dating back to the year 1000, built by the monks of the time to grind wheat and produce flour. Currently, the house reflects externally what it was originally built for, while internally the rooms have been created trying to adapt them to today's needs of habitability. The space The Antico Mulino di Sant'Angelo in Cortona is an ancient building dating back to the year 1000, built by the monks of the time to exploit the power of the water of the stream that flows nearby to move the gears of the millstones used for grinding wheat and producing flour. It was the most advanced mechanical engineering work for those times, and it was certainly managed by the monks for many centuries. We have not found any documentary trace of the activity as a mill and only by doing the renovation work did we realize what was hidden below ground level. Currently, the house therefore externally reflects what it was originally built for, while internally the rooms have been created trying to adapt them to today's habitability needs. The house is 180 square meters on the ground floor there are two living areas, one is located on the front and is a glazed room where there is the dining table (air-conditioned with air conditioning and heating) and a sofa, here it seems to live in the middle of nature and under the natural sky you can spend pleasant moments at the table. Going further inside, we find ourselves in the living area with the kitchen on the left and a living area with sofas and a TV corner on the right. In the center of the house is the staircase that leads to the upper floor and the passage that leads to the back of the ground floor where there are two double bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one of which has a small terrace with a staircase that gives direct access to the pool and a small bedroom with a single bed. Also on the upper floor there is a half-bath without a shower. Outside the house, there is a 500-square-meter garden and a 5000-square-meter park used as an olive grove. On the side of the house, there is the ancient mill basin that has been transformed into a swimming pool. It is built entirely with the original stone and maintains the appearance of the reservoir created many years ago. In the garden there is a BBQ area with an outdoor sink and electric stove and a shower with hot water. The costs for air conditioning and heating are not included, they are based on consumption and paid in cash at the end of the stay €0.60/kWh. There is a tourist tax of 10 euros per person only for the first week, and children under 12 years of age do not pay. Final cleaning costs are included, there is a surcharge of 50 euros in the case of animals, all other costs are included, linen towels for bathroom and pool, electricity (not for air conditioning) Booking conditions Weekly rent from Saturday to Saturday Check-in after 4:00 p.m. Departure by 10.00 a.m. Pool opening From mid-May to mid-September Costs Security deposit €500.00 Tourist tax €8.00 per person per week from 12 years of age Heating and air conditioning based on consumption (€0.60 kw/h) Registration Details IT051017B5LNYPVNXY
