Casa do Moinho is on a hill in the small village of Amoreira, Obidos with spectacular views across the valley. Within 15 mins from many beaches, 4 golf courses and the Obidos lagoon to birdwatch, walk, cycle, sail, kitesurf - 4 bedrooms (sleeps 8), 2 en suite and 1 family bathroom - Open plan kitchen living area with double doors onto the patio-dining area with built in BBQ - Gorgeous swimming pool with covered pool area for shade, a sofa and sun loungers - Pool table, ping-pong table The space Property Overview Bedrooms Our Casa has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 people. So bring your friends and family and have a fabulous holiday with all your favourite people. 2 of the rooms have en-suite shower rooms and there is a large family bathroom with a bath and shower. All our bedrooms have built-in wardrobes so you can pack your things away and make it feel like home. The master suite as you expect is the most spacious bedroom. So just try to imagine yourself cosying up in the Super King bed with the privacy of your own en-suite shower room and incredible views across the valley. There is ample storage, so please feel free to book a long stay, relax and make the most of your holiday. The second guest bedroom is at the opposite end of the house, it also has a king-sized bed and an en-suite shower room. This room has views of out towards the village past the fuchsia bougainvillea bed which bursts into life over the Summer months. There are 2 further bedrooms, one has a king-sized bed and the smaller bedroom has 2 single beds, perfect for kids or young adults. Living Areas Casa do Moinho is a villa with an open plan kitchen and sitting room. As it’s our family home, the kitchen is well equipped with everything that you might need, including things like blenders and a food processor. So if you love to cook gourmet food on your holidays this is the ideal place. Although there is an extendable kitchen table, but as the house was built for convenient inside-outside living, I am sure you will spend time enjoying the external spaces as well. From the kitchen living room we have 2 sets of double doors, facing towards the spectacular views of the valley. Step out of the double doors and onto the spacious patio and settle down at the modern, sleek, extendable table. Here you can enjoy a peaceful coffee and pastel de nata in the morning; bring everyone together for a family meal or just while away the time reading books and chatting. There is also a built-in BBQ in the patio, so if you like outdoor cuisine then it’s the perfect spot to cook up a storm. The sitting room has a large sofa for relaxing in front of the TV, or listening to music. If you want a quiet space to read your book, you can also pop upstairs to the more secluded mezzanine area which also has a sofa with TV/DVD player. The views are spectacular, so it’s also lovely to pop onto the balcony, and is perfect spot for a glass of wine at the end of a relaxing day. Settle in and watch the sun set. Pool Area We have a gorgeous swimming pool, hidden away to the side of the house. At 14 ft x 30 ft, it’s a decent size and as we are the highest house on the hill, we are hidden away from prying eyes. There is a covered area for shade lovers with another table for pool-side dining and an outside sofa for relaxing in the heat of the day. With sun loungers scattered around the property, you can find a spot to enjoy sun or shade at most times of the day. For the more sporty amongst you, there is a pool table in one of the outbuildings and a folding table-tennis table which can be set up if you want to put your ball skills to the test. Location - Amoreira, Obidos Casa do Moinho (Windmill House) is situated in Amoreira, in the Obidos area. The house is nestled at the top of the hill, with spectacular views across the valley, our only higher neighbours are the windmills themselves. The windmills are unused, but provide a beautiful backdrop for a gentle amble around the hillside. Amoreira is a small village with a couple of cafés and restaurants and its only 50 minutes from Lisbon Airport, so we are very easily accessible, but we suggest you have a car to get around. You may have heard of Obidos, it’s a medieval, white-washed town with a Castle – it’s a must see when you are in Portugal. With Obidos being an 8 minute drive, at Casa do Moinho, you are in easy reach of a wide range of eateries. The Obidos region is lush, our valley is packed full of vines, fruit trees and other fresh produce which is grown locally and sold in the Amoreira village shop. Once you are sufficiently relaxed, you can make the most of all that the area has to offer. Casa do Moinho is brilliantly located with so many lovely things to do and see within a short drive: Local Beaches There are many Silver Coast beaches accessible within a 15 minutes drive of the house including Supertubos which is famous for annually hosting a World Surf League Event and Baleal which is a go-to destination for surfers of all levels. There are a lot of very good surf schools who are hosting lessons there every day – just pop in the day before if you want to book in advance. Both these beaches have fantastic bars, cafes and restaurants with views across the Atlantic. There are also lots of other more secluded beaches and headland walks if you want to experience a less busy version of Portugal. Golf Within about 10-15 minutes there are also 4 good golf courses to enjoy, • Royal Obidos was the last course that Seve Ballesteros designed. It has lovely sea views and is known for hosting the Portuguese Open. • Praia D’el Rey and West Cliffs are both links courses and they are actually owned by the same company, so you can get a deal if you play both, so make sure to ask! • Bom Successo was designed by Donald Steel and for those on a budget, it is the less expensive of the courses to visit. Obidos Lagoon The Obidos Lagoon is stunning nature reserve with extraordinary wildlife and is only an 8 minute drive from the house. At the Lagoon, in addition to bird-watching you can also enjoy a variety of a activities, cycling, water sports (kite-surfing, sailing, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, canoeing). Getting around The property has a private drive and dedicated parking at the top of the drive has space for several cars. Guest access Our property Managers will meet you at the property at the beginning and end of your stay. Casa do Moinho is a detached, walled house, all of it is for your use during your stay.
