Sandy Bottoms Cabin is nestled in the woods along the shores of Sand Lake, near the charming town of Stone Lake, Wisconsin. With 4 BD, 3 BA, a screened porch, deck, and community spaces on 2 levels, it’s an ideal cabin to gather with friends & family! You’ll love the pontoon (June-Sept), kayaks, and private sandy beach for swimming and boating in 950-acres of crystal clear water; begin your day on the lakeside deck with coffee as you watch the sun rise! In the Winter, ski out on to the lake! The décor throughout is Scandinavian-inspired and unique to Sandy Bottoms. The main floor has two bedrooms, both with Queen beds and high-quality linens and towels: The Oak Suite has an En-suite Full bathroom, and The Lakeside Pine Room has beautiful views of the lake and a Full Guest Bathroom directly across. In the kitchen, you’ll find all the tools and appliances you need, and some you didn’t know you needed, like a Belgian waffle maker and a griddle for the perfect cabin brunch! The large screened porch just off the kitchen has another dining table, gas grill, and a swing with views of the lake. Two more bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the Lower Level: The Birch Bunk Room has a bunkbed (Full size mattress on the bottom) as well as a separate Twin bed, and the Lakeside Maple Room has a Queen bed and lovely views of the lake! In the Family Room, you’ll find a Queen Futon sofa and a tall pub table with lake views for meals, games, and puzzles. The smart TV, Wii (games included), DVD player, and a large collection of DVDs are located there as well. You’ll love the pontoon boat, kayaks, paddle boards, and private sandy beach for swimming and boating all day long... or spend the afternoon playing provided games like beanbag toss and Kubb in the lakefront yard, and simply enjoy each other’s company on the large screened porch after a campfire by the lake. In cool evenings, experience the cozy contentment of listening to records by the classic Scandinavian wood-burning stove. There is room there on the property for parking up to 4 cars and 2 trailers (for ATVs and snowmobiles). The owners and Property Manager's main goal is that our rental guests have the most amazing lake vacation ever! To that end, the Property Manager is available 24/7 for any issues that may arise or to answer any questions that our guests may have :-) But know that you’ll have the entire cabin to yourselves and full use of the pontoon boat. You’re also welcome to use the kayaks and paddle boards, yard games, hammock, a record player that’s Bluetooth-enabled, board games and puzzles, WiFi, and an extensive DVD collection. If you’d like to bring your own boat, the private dock is there for your use. Other water toys, ATVs, and winter sports equipment—skis, snowshoes, snowmobiles, etc., are available from a third-party vendor. See our Guidebook for recommendations. At Sandy Bottoms Cabin, you’re just a few miles down the road from locally-owned shops and restaurants in the quaint village of Stone Lake: Stop by Farm Boyz Mercantile for everyday needs and local treats—like bourbon maple syrup, Hayward Gourmet caramel popcorn, and Burnett Farms cheddar gruyere—plus an eclectic mix of antiques and gifts made by local artists! Just next door is The Last Frontier gift shop, a must-see collection of locally made goods and artisan gifts you won’t find anywhere else, and The Stone Wreath lifestyle boutique across the street has carefully curated home décor, clothing, accessories, furniture, and more! If you don’t want to cook, Stone Lake has that covered too (it IS vacation, after all!) Stop by Black Bear Pub for delicious pizza and the largest selection of WI craft beer in the Northwoods, Marie’s Hideaway for homemade Italian food, or catch the game and enjoy a pint at The Stone Lake Pub. Red Schoolhouse Wines isn’t just a wine and gift shop, they also offer homemade lunch and dinner to enjoy in the 1870s schoolhouse or on the patio while you listen to live music on the weekends. Need a caffeine fix? Whistle Punk Coffee (which also serves up craft beer) is just steps from The Last Frontier. Sandy Bottoms Cabin is also ideally located near all the fun the area has to offer: The Cranberry Festival in Stone Lake on the first Saturday in October draws thousands each year for its 300+ vendors, artisans, crafters, food, and hospitality areas. The American Birkebeiner is the largest cross-country ski race in North America. Held over five days, the 60-mile classic and skate skiing races finish in downtown Hayward, a short drive away from Sandy Bottoms. In the summer, check out the Lumberjack World Championships to watch log rolling, boom-running, speed climbing, and more! While you’re there, don’t miss the unique experience of visiting the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Spend an afternoon in Hayward’s popular shops and restaurants. You can indulge at Tremblay’s Sweet Shop, Lynne Marie’s Candy, and Sweet City (they have an edible cookie dough bar!). Or find the perfect souvenir at one of the unique, locally-owned gift shops like Nordic Northwoods, Hayward Mercantile, and Lures of the North. Come visit Sandy Bottoms Cabin for a Northwoods adventure with all the comforts of home! Sandy Bottoms Cabin is located just minutes to Stone Lake (you can even bike there!) and only about 20 minutes to Hayward. There is no nearby public transportation. The Cabin is also located near numerous hiking and biking trails, including the famous Birkenbeiner (Birkie) Ski Trail that’s open to bikers, runners, and hikers in the warm months. In the fall, drive under the graceful arch of trees over Rustic Road #71 to view their changing colors as they reflect on the water. In the winter, access snowmobile-only trail 31 right off “your own” lakeshore and link to dozens of Class A groomed snowmobile trails. In addition to skiing and snowshoeing out onto the lake or the Birkie Ski Trail, ski the Nordic Woods Trail, located just down the road. The stacked loop system is groomed and tracked, offering scenic lake views as it winds through a forest of northern hardwoods and conifers. For other options, visit washburncounty.org for a list of trails and maps for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing nearby. In the Summer, enjoy the beautiful sandy beach and all of the included water toys for fun out on beautiful Sand Lake: the pontoon boat (available June-September), kayaks and paddle boards! In the Winter, enjoy being right on the snowmobile trails, and ungroomed x-c ski trails by going right out of the cabin onto Sand Lake! Ah...
