Beautiful Craftsman home - short walk to downtown
Description
Casa DeLaTorre is a newly remodeled, 1,200 square foot, 2 story Craftsman home that features turn of the century charm with the comfort of modern amenities. Located in the Sherman Heights historic district within walking distance of the Convention Center, Gaslamp & Petco Park our home is within a couple miles of Coronado and the SD Zoo. This is the perfect spot for business travelers, or couples and families on vacation that like being close to the attractions...but enjoy a good night's sleep. The space Casa DeLaTorre is a tribute to my mother and my aunt. I've restored this home built in 1908 by adding some current day amenities like air conditioning in each room, updated utilities, kitchen and bathrooms, while maintaining the integrity of what homes were like in that era...and I added a few touches of my own. You should expect a few creaks every now and then given the home was built over 100 years ago, and the rooms run a little smaller than what the modern homes of today are. My mother loved birds, and the stained glass window above the kitchen sink represents the two sisters who lived here. At night, the 2nd story view of the Coronado Bridge, and the city lights from both the front and back yard are beautiful. Our home is located on a street that will take you right into the heart of the Gaslamp District or to Petco Park to catch a ballgame, sightseeing at the Embarcadero & Seaport Village, or to enjoy a concert at the New Rady Shell on the bay. With a Walk Score of 92, getting there is an easy mile walk down the hill. Coming back...you might want to catch a ride back up the hill. There's a neighborhood market steps away around the corner, and a number of local eateries within walking distance, as is Grant Hill Park - a nice neighborhood park with great views of downtown and Coronado. Speaking of neighborhood, because we are located in between homes with families, our house is more suited towards other families or business travelers. With a 10 PM Quiet time, we are not a fit for the younger crowd looking to let loose with friends, bachelor (ette) parties, etc. Because we prioritize cleanliness and a fresh smelling home, we have a few rules we must insist that be followed. Marijuana or any other strong-smelling substances must be kept out of the house at all times. It is very difficult, and expensive to remove that odor from all the surfaces in the home. While we love pets, and have some of our own, some of our guests have strong allergies to pet dander. Because of this, we've opted to have a "NO PET" policy in the home. We have made the same evaluation regarding smoking, and have a strict "NO SMOKING" policy in the home as well. Guest access Private, secure, off street parking for 2 vehicles only and check-in is accessed thru the alley in a gated back yard area behind the house. Both front and back yards are equipped with security cameras that illuminate the area upon motion detection. Other things to note Hate to be a party pooper, but... There are NO PARTIES allowed on the premises, and we have a 10 PM Quiet Time out of respect for our neighbors with children on both sides of us. We will immediately cancel the reservation, and ask the guests to vacate the premises if we see any more than the number of people listed on the reservation on, or who have entered the premises. Any additional cleaning or damages will be charged against your security deposit at a short notice / overtime rate. Apologies if this sounds overly onerous as it does not apply to the vast majority of our guests. Registration details STR-02427L, 645141
