The space The Musician's Cottage is nestled in our 2 acre, gated historic family compound. This compound features the 1903 Victorian where we live and two guest cottages, all grouped around beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns, with wild woodlands behind. Hummingbirds and butterflies flit about, deer are frequent visitors, we'll even get the occasional fox. As you enter the Musician’s Cottage you feel the freshness of a full, high-quality renovation. The style is very local, kind of an elevated boho Marin, created by an award-winning Bay Area designer. You are immediately struck by the size of the place: at 1200 S.F., it’s more of a house than a “cottage”. The huge living room is just stunning with its soaring 20’ ceilings, walls of windows and stylish furnishing looking out onto woodlands. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware and dishware, and the dining area with marble dining table is fronted by double french doors with garden views. You’ll feel like you are in a high-end treehouse. The ground floor bedroom wing includes a large, luxurious bathroom, a quiet master bedroom with woodland views, and a double-twin bedroom. All beds are high-quality and very comfortable, with good sheets and pillows - we take sleep quality seriously here. All furnishings, fixtures, finishes and artworks are carefully chosen and just lovely, adding to the experience. The wifi in the cottage has a lightning-fast wifi speed of 528 mbps - capable of handling multiple devices streaming HD videos or online gaming at once - making it more than capable of handling the needs of most households and even small businesses. And a huge plus: Guests have access to so much outdoor space! A private back deck, a small front patio, and a large common front lawn. Lots of room to spread out, breathe deep, enjoy! The location of the cottage, in Central Marin, is absolutely ideal for exploring the Bay Area. We are halfway between San Francisco and wine country (about 30-40 min drive to each), and immersed in the famous beauty and relaxed lifestyle of Marin County. Marin is famous for its acres of beautiful National Parks and open space available for all sorts of outdoor fun: hiking, biking (both road and mountain), kayaking, sailing, surfing, you name it. The climate of Central Marin in particular is very special, mild almost year-round and out of the fog belt that often engulfs Mill Valley, Sausalito and S.F. Marin is filled with good restaurants, shops, farmers markets, live music, walkable charming small towns and all the rest - not your average suburbs. The area, and Kentfield in particular, is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the Bay Area and even California. Marin is also rich in fun history, as the home of the Grateful Dead and much other counterculture life in the 60’s and 70’s. We are a family of artists - I (Jenny) am a painter and Sandy (my husband) is a musician. All three of our kids are musicians as well and my daughter painted the dragon mural on the side of the cottage. Come join us in this peaceful, creative and beautiful family compound! Guest access Guests have access to the cottage, the deck, the entry patio, and the assigned parking area (two spaces). They also have access to the lovely central lawn, which is surrounded with beautiful gardens and shared by the owners and other guests. Other things to note Pet policy: We love dogs and welcome them to this pet-friendly property! Here are the rules: - Non-refundable fee of $50/pet. - One very well-behaved dog 50 lb or less allowed. No excessive barking, chewing etc. - No dogs under one years old. - IMPORTANT: Dirty dogs must be cleaned up before re-entering unit. If your dog’s paws are muddy, wash and dry them at the “dog paw-washing station” across the lawn (towels in the grey box). If they are overall dirty (ie they’ve been to the beach, been playing in mud puddles etc.), please give them a bath at nearby Woodland Pets at the Bonaire Center in Greenbrae. - Dogs must be current on flea and tick treatment - Please clean up scrupulously after your dog. Dispose of bagged waste in grey bin near gate. - Please don’t leave your dog alone in the unit for more than 4 hours. Dog sitters are easily available through Rover. - Please report any damage to us immediately, especially “accidents”, so we can treat before they set in - Use provided couch and bed covers - Have fun playing with our resident mini bernadoodle Rosie, who is entirely friendly! Parking Area: Your two assigned parking spots are in a tight parking area. It will fit two cars up to mid-sized, or one full-size and one compact, but not two full-size or large vehicles. If you bring a large vehicle like a truck, full-size van or large SUV it will fit just that, no second car.
