Located on a beautiful, leafy residential street in the heart of Bar Harbor Village - surrounded by B and B's, but you get the comfort and privacy of an entire home! "Mistress Row" is a street of finely designed Shingle Style homes so-named becuase several of the homes were purportedly built by visiting tycoons for their mistresses for when they had their yachts in port. Now a sought after family neighborhood, this is a lovely tree-lined one-way, quiet street with well-maintained homes dating over a century. Baileard is from 1904 and has been recently renovated, preserving the original details of the home (clawfoot tubs, fireplaces, woodwork), but with lots of modern comforts! Walk to all the local eatieries, shops and parks without worrying about parking! Five bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, updated kitchen, copper-sinked bar, multiple living and dining areas, a home theatre, and a private pocket garden with deck, grill and dining set. The "butler's pantry" (functioning as a bar with sink, wine cooler and many types of barware) is a favorite space (sorry, butler not included!). Lots of beautiful art and antiques mixed in with more modern pieces. Amazing hand-printed Morris wallpapers, wainscoting and other special touches abound. Two blocks in two directions brings you to the ocean, Within a block are fine restaurants and shops, as well as two parks! Be reminded of the time only when the nearby church bells toll. Amount of interaction is up to you - we normally allow you to check yourself in and let you enjoy the home, but we are only a message or call away if you need anything, and if you wish for us to show you around the house upon arrival, just say so. One of the best residential streets in the Village, a very sought after area, will make you feel like a local - sit on the porch or even join the neighbors on theirs with a glass of wine. Walk to the grocery store and cook lobster at home or head out to a nearby restaurant or bar without having to worry about driving. Those close to the activity, you will be surprised at the relative tranquility. Getting around couldn't be easier. Park once, right at the house, and then walk, bike, or take the Island Explorer (free shuttle) anywhere in the park or around the island! We have been fortunate to be hosting guests since Maine reopened last summer with an enhanced cleaning protocol. This property agrees to the airbnb handbook, which follow cleaning and disinfection guidelines provided by the CDC, EPA, and World Health Organization. All of our properties are cleaned thoroughly, and we have disinfected our bathrooms, kitchens, and major touch points like light switches, doorknobs, tabletops, electronics, appliances, and control panels.
